Residences at Western University are some of the best in the country with the Globe and Mail’s student satisfaction survey placing Western's residences number one for eleven consecutive years Housing and Ancillary Services Information Technology (HAS-IT) unit delivers high quality, secure and cost effective internet technology services and support to the students living in residence, while also striving to provide the best staff experience. **Responsibilities**: **Responsibilities**: The HAS-IT Summer Intern Technician is responsible for supporting the Division of Housing and Ancillary Services through technical support alongside the HAS-IT Team. This includes providing support for a variety of summer campus guests including business professionals, faculty, hobbyists, athletes, vacationers, summer students, minor children, prospective Western students and their parents. The incumbent must be able to resolve technical, network and software support issues that arise. They will be personable and approachable during customer and staff interactions. Occasional weekend and evening work is required in order to provide the best service to Western conference attendees. They will also be responsible for: - Assisting HASIT on inventory and cataloging of hardware technologies - Assisting Client Support Specialist to research, plan, design, purchase, secure, deploy, maintain and support the end-user equipment and networking infrastructure - Assisting with annual maintenance checklist of all retail and residence systems **Qualifications**: - A Summer Intern Technician must have demonstrated higher-level skills in providing both technical and customer service, technical knowledge of system and troubleshooting of wired and wireless connectivity. **Education**: Minimum Required: - Undergraduate university degree or college diploma - Preferred: - An Information Technology (IT) related university degree or college diploma **Experience**: - A Summer Intern Technician must have a minimum of one year technical experience **Skills, Abilities & Expertise**: A Summer Intern Technician must have demonstrated the ability to provide both higher-level technical and customer support proficiently. In addition to excelling in a number of the skills, abilities, and expertise outlined in the HAS IT Staff position, a Summer Intern Technician must have: - Knowledge of hardware, software and network connectivity troubleshooting - Familiarity with network concepts is an asset thorough knowledge of network concepts such as MAC + IP address - Current knowledge of operating systems: Windows and Mac OS - Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service - Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy - Problem solving skills with a sense of urgency in resolving issues and getting tasks completed **Why Western?**: Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance, experience, and qualifications.
