**General Machinist**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Operate manual machining (**milling and lathe**) and other miscellaneous machine shop equipment,
- Monitor and verify the accuracy of each job’s initial setup, and final outcome
- Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements to maximize efficiency and reduce costs
- Interpret engineering drawings and machine accordingly to include proper methodology, tooling, cutting speeds and feeds in order to generate quality parts in accordance with production and quality standards
- Communicate with supervisors and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining, production or quality issues
- Within the scope of the job requirements, required to adhere to and comply with the company quality program and procedures, company policies and health, safety and environmental policies/regulations
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor, which may include creating jigs, fixtures or tools for other areas of the shop

**REQUIREMENTS**:
EDUCATION:
General Machinist or other related trade certification

EXPERIENCE:

- manual lathe and mill experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience operating manual machines in a fast--paced manufacturing environment
- Advanced knowledge of reading blueprints and specifications
- Working knowledge of various tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, and inserts used on various machines
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
- Must be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal) as it relates to the job
- Hands-on and adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and have the ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Basic math skills to include but not be limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication
- Forklift license an asset

SKILLS:

- Strong self-motivation to drive results
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

**Salary**: $34.00-$38.00 per hour
