**PRIMARY PURPOSE**:
Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre (GTNT) seeks a part-time Circle of Voices Assistant who is passionate about the power of art, creating community, and mentoring youth. The primary focus of this position will be to assist in the planning and facilitation of the Circle of Voices (COV) Program in conjunction with our Artistic Associate, cultural advisor, local elders, and professional theatre artists. It is crucial that emerging Indigenous artists are given the skills they need to find their artistic voices and the COV Assistant will be responsible for ensuring these mentorships are meaningful for participants of all of our engagement programming. GTNT is also committed to advancing programming for established artists and the COV Assistant will support the delivery of new initiatives designed to further actor and designer training in the community.
**PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Plan, initiate and lead delivery of community engagement programs including Circle of Voices, community workshops, and more;
- Prepare activity reports for all community programming;
- Provide support for theatre artists and the Cultural Advisor as they present material for the Circle of Voices participants;
- Possibly provide transportation for participants on occasion using the GTNT/CNYC provided vehicle;
- Due to the nature of the COV program, the COV Assistant will be scheduled to work on afternoons and late evenings during the week;
- Weekend work on occasion, mostly in February/March as COV prepares for their final production;
- Be willing to commit to evolving duties as requested by the General Manager and/or the Artistic Director.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
- Knowledge of local Indigenous history, culture and issues;
- Excellent organizational, time-management and negotiation skills;
- Strong analytical skills, sound judgment and a proactive approach to problem solving;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and in person;
- Focus on positive, productive relationships;
- Confidence in relationship building and leadership;
- The ability to consistently maintain a positive, professional, balanced perspective.
**QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS**:
- Must be over 18 y/o;
- Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on theatre
- Wîcêhtowin Theatre Certificate from the University of Saskatchewan
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Sociology
- Completion of the Circle of Voices program
- Significant acting/social work experience, previous experience working with Indigenous youth and/or youth-at-risk;
- Previous experience working with Indigenous organizations is preferred;
- Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills;
- Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license an asset.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 - 20 per week
