**WHAT YOU’LL DO**:
The Social Worker in the MHS In-Patient Program is an experienced mental health clinician and an integral part of a multidisciplinary team who provides psychosocial assessment and a range of treatments and interventions for person experiencing serious mental illness and their families. The Social Worker also provides information, consultation, and education to members of the In-Patient Team, other hospital staff and the community on matters relating to mental health concerns.
**WHAT YOU’LL BRING**:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work
- Minimum of 3 years supervised experience working with adults with serious mental illness including individual, family and group work
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in interdisciplinary and interagency cooperation
- Member of the Ontario College of Certified Social Workers
**WHO YOU ARE**:
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and their treatment, adult development, family life cycle and symptoms theory.
- Demonstrates model of comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment including screening for serious mental illness, mental status, suicide risk and cognitive status; martial and family assessment; short-term and long-term treatment of individuals, couples and families; group psychotherapy; crisis intervention/counselling and discharge planning; psychoeducation; case management
- Commitment to multi-disciplinary, collaborative and systemic models of practice and assessment
- Ability to assess and treat adults and families using an integrated model of practice
- Ability to develop recommendations which include use of hospital and community resources and the ability to work with these systems in development of treatment and discharge planning
- Flexibility in presentation and use of self
- Knowledge and skill in working with a full range of adult disorders
- Knowledge of appropriate community resources
- Demonstrated advocacy/brokering skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and also be an effective member of the interdisciplinary team
