**DATA ANALYST**
**Term**: 12 Months + 12 Months
**Location**: You will perform work on-site (OTTAWA) as required to meet the objectives of the project.

**Project Description**:
The college is implementing a new vendor cloud-based Student Information System (SIS) platform with many complex integrations to other internal systems. As part of the SIS project, known as 'R3'. As part of the SIS project, the College has also created several sub-projects including a Data project stream. With respect to the latter, the College must perform Data Conversion/Migration activities to ensure that the institution is ideally positioned with regard to data readiness, prior to Data Migration. This project is intended to initiate an enterprise-wide data governance program for SIS data, that aligns with existing policies and industry best practices. The primary goal is to establish the basic foundational elements of data governance required to support the SIS system migration.

**PROJECT BACKGROUND**
We are implementing a new Cloud-based Student Information System (SIS) with complex integrations to other internal systems. As part of the SIS project, the College has also created several sub-projects including a Data project stream. With respect to the latter, the College must perform Data Conversion/Migration activities to ensure that the institution is ideally positioned with regard to data readiness, prior to Data Migration.

This project is intended to initiate an enterprise-wide data governance program for SIS data, that aligns with existing policies and industry best practices. The primary goal is to establish the basic foundational elements of data governance required to support the SIS system migration.

**DESCRIPTION OF WORK/DELIVERABLES**
Under the general direction of the Project Manager, Data Management Team, the Data Analyst will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
**Confirm Data Migration Scope & Requirements**
- Confirm data migration scope and requirements through consultation with appropriate business stakeholders.
- Confirm business requirements as the basis of data migration requirements.
- Resolve any conceptual level issues that need to be addressed (current state to target state - terms, concepts).
- Identify possible data migration issues associated to a business decision. Perform Data Quality & Issue Remediation
- Identify opportunities to cleanse data prior to data migration.
- Identify and prioritize data issues that arise as part of the data migration and conduct appropriate remediation actions.
- Implement Data Quality rules within the College's standard Data Quality solution.
- Associate Data Quality metrics with critical data elements in the College's Data Governance Platform.

**Perform Data Mapping & Build Data Transformations**
- Review with Business Analysts and Business Systems Analyst proposed alignment.
- Determine mapping specifications at a field level including transformations required.
- Confirm what vendor data migration templates are required to satisfy data migration scope/requirements.
- Build and run data transformation routines required to move and transform data from its current state to load into the vendor staging database.

**Support Vendor Data Migration**
- Support vendor in addressing data issues that arise during data migration.
- Review data migration report produced by vendor and confirm data migration was successfully completed.
- Support Data Verification and Functional Testing of Migrated Data.

**The Data Analyst should have the following experience and qualifications**:

- Completed an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or in a related field.
- Minimum 7 years in a data analysis role involving reporting/analytics projects, data warehouse and/or data platforms.
- Azure Data Lake Experience
- Data Modelling, Data Architecture
- Experience providing analysis of data linage (both technical and business) and in depth analysis of data sources to verify conformity to Business Rules and Data Quality standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Data Management and Data Governance.
- Experience interacting with business units and aligning IT principles of data management principles.
- Ability to elicit data requirements from business use cases.
- Ability to simplify technology/data communications for business consumption.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, Agile principles and the Scrum Framework
