Network Support Technician

**Job Summary**:
The Network Support Technician supports River East Transcona School Division's computer network infrastructure. Reporting to the Network Support Manager, the Network Support Technician installs and configures network related devices. The technician will diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user training and support where required.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Troubleshoot and provide resolution to operational issues of endpoints, classroom technology, and other devices with regards network (wired and wireless) connectivity.
- Troubleshoot and provide basic support for network systems such as, wireless, voice, video, routing and switching, and security.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure and devices.
- Install, configure, refresh and remove networking equipment (routers, switches, access points, etc.) for both project-based and daily operational purposes.
- Maintain and update documentation of the network topology, equipment inventory, operational documents, and networking maps.
- Handle and provide resolution to IT tickets as assigned by IT teams.
- Resolve network-related IT tickets and support troubleshooting and resolution with IT teams.
- Responsible for the overall operation of network technology area as assigned by network manager.
- Coordinate and collaborate with third party vendors on problem resolution, projects, and other tasks as assigned.
**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:
- Qualifications_
- Network + certifications; Cisco CCNA certifications are an asset.
- Demonstrated previous experience with Wide Area and Local Area Network (WAN, LAN) in an enterprise-level environment.
- One to three years of experience in delivering technical support for technology and networking devices within an enterprise setting.

- Skills and abilities _
- Good background of WAN and LAN enterprise environment and strong knowledge of networking devices (routers, switches, access point and others)
- Good knowledge of the following networking technologies: VoIP, Wireless, Security, Routing and switching, network monitoring, and management.
- A good understanding of endpoints, operating system platforms, classroom technologies, network connectivity and its operation within the enterprise environment.
- Ability to support, install and troubleshoot components on a campus network.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong desire to learn stay informed of emerging technologies.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to establish and maintain a positive, respectful, safe, and healthy work environment that supports the physical, psychological, and social working relationships with team members at all levels in a collaborative environment.
- Strong organization skills to manage tasks within set timelines.

- Physical demands:_
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
- Hand-held telephone receiver may require repetitive arm-stretching and elbow-bending action
- Extensive use of computer mouse and keyboard
- Prolonged periods of viewing computer monitor
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. may be required
- Use of hand and power tools
- Unpacking supplies
- Ability to safely climb a ladder
- Working conditions:_
- Exposure to noise and frequent interruptions with conflicting demands and deadlines

Salary range: $70,681 to $82,477 per annum
