**About Us**
Our vision is that every child in every community has access to the education and materials they need to thrive at school, at home and in life.
Our mission is to provide programs and resources that empower kids and their families to build a brighter future for themselves through literacy.
The Reading Partnership (TRP) is a Canadian registered charity that offers inclusive, interactive and evidence-informed literacy programming. We exist to build community and cultivate a love of reading for children and families, particularly in underrepresented, racialized neighbourhoods.
Out of concern for the low literacy rates in her home community of Kingston-Galloway/Orton Park (KGO) in Scarborough, TRP was established in 2011 by Ontario-certified teacher, Camesha Cox. Recognizing that her community was being left behind at a disproportionate rate because of intersecting factors such as race, socio-economics, language, limited access to education, and more, Camesha set out to not only boost literacy rates, but also unlock the enormous potential of children and families in KGO.
Taking a community-centric approach, TRP has built a, “for the community, by the community” movement. This differentiator allows TRP to engage with parents and children, collaborate effectively with schools and community organizations, and positively impact literacy levels. Today, the organization serves over 1000 families in 10 communities across Scarborough and beyond.
Please advise if you require accommodations to ensure a fair and equitable selection process.
