**A Brief Overview**

Reporting to the Director, Development, in the Stephen J.R. Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, the Development Officer, Annual and Leadership Giving maintains an active portfolio of prospective donors and will assume and develop a variety of strategic long term relationships that will maximize charitable gift revenues on a sustained annual basis. The incumbent develops annual and leadership giving initiatives to strengthen engagement, helps to increase philanthropic support from a variety of audiences, and enhances pipeline development within Smith Engineering and Smith Advancement Team.

Coordinating and collaborating with a variety of teams, the incumbent will split their time working directly with donors, developing strategies, and implementing new initiatives to grow Smith Engineering's Leadership Annual Giving (LAG) program. The incumbent will write, create and provide advice regarding annual and leadership giving solicitations deemed necessary through the development of strategy, which includes work on class giving programs and general appeals, in conjunction with our University-Wide Annual Giving team.

This position executes the alumni engagement, volunteer, and fundraising goals and strategies. This position manages relationships and fundraising efforts with current and prospective reunion-based volunteers, and builds and stewards new and existing relationships. This position also identifies, evaluates, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors for gifts and fosters long-term relationships with these donors, which support the ongoing activities and reputation of Smith Engineering and Queen's University.

This position recommends, creates, and implements key aspects of development programs, including developing and implementing goals and strategies to maximize funding for priorities. This position identifies, evaluates, and recommend approaches to gaining or deepening relationships with current and prospective donors.

**What you will do**

Recommends, develops and implements communication and donor engagement strategies with various donor groups.

- Writes case statements and donor proposals in support of key solicitation/engagement opportunities.
- Coordinates fundraising volunteer meetings, recognition, communication and engagement opportunities. Collaborates with other Advancement staff to plan and facilitate development activities.
- Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

**Required Education**
- Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.

**Required Experience**
- More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.- Knowledge of relationship building, fundraising and stewardship considered an asset.
- Experience developing and/or implementing fundraising and/or major gift plans considered an asset.
- Experience in planning and/or managing projects considered an asset.
- Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.

**Required Licenses and Certifications** G Driver's Licence required.

Valid Passport with no travel restrictions is required.
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.

Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
