Customer Care Specialist, Part-time

This is a work from home, after hours, part-time role. You must be able to accommodate the following requirements:
- **Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination (2 valid doses)**:
- **Training is paid and on-site at our Markham head office. This may be up to 8 weeks, full-time during normal business hours. (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm)**:
- Hours of work (after training) includes weekends and holidays, with occasional overnights.
- You will need to be available for on-call in the event of emergency at any given time.
- After up to 8 weeks of on-site, in-office training, the employee is expected to work from home during their assigned shift. You need to have a quiet space available to work, uninterrupted with no distractions.
- You will need to have a desk/workspace along with reliable high-speed internet and cellular reception.
- You will periodically be required to attend meetings in the office during business hours.
- You will periodically be required to attend refresher training in the office during business hours.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide and maintain a high standard of customer service to client organizations, Insured’s, their families and guardians on how to proceed with claims or provide referrals when necessary.
- Maintain accurate data entry; organize and work with detailed records to access, search and retrieve data.
- Maintain proper files for claims by collecting and organizing all relevant documents and set up new claims using the company software system.
- Prepare and review insurance-claim forms and related documents for completeness.
- Transmit claims for payment or further investigation as needed.
- Contact insured or other involved persons to obtain missing information.
- Contribute to and maintain our electronic document management activities (filing & storing of documents, inventory and/or research activities).
- Liaise with other departments to solve queries, as necessary.
- Keep up to date with **guard.me** insurance product knowledge as well as appraisal and investigation techniques and services.
- Flexibility to participate in conference calls and attend in-office training as required.
- Other duties and responsibilities as guard.me shall reasonably require.
**Qualifications and Skills**
- Minimum of 2 years in a Call Centre environment, coupled with completion of Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred in an Insurance, Medical or Clinical setting.
- Excellent customer service attitude with an ability to demonstrate this while taking calls.
- Ability to work independently at home, in a positive, energetic and outgoing manner.
- Comfortable adapting to new situations with the ability to perform well, negotiate and problem solve in dynamic situations.
- A strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to maintain high-level of confidentiality of clients’ information.
- Tech-savvy with the ability to learn new computer systems and work with industry related software programs.
- Intermediate level Experience using Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook), Adobe Reader, Internet Search Engines (Google Chrome, Mozilla, IE).
- Excellent verbal & telephony skills with the ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to compose professional correspondence.
- Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset.
