**Working for the School of Dentistry**

The School of Dentistry has been at the University of Alberta since 1917 and is part of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the College of Health Sciences. The school serves an integral role in educating a part of the healthcare workforce in Alberta and beyond.

The school offers undergraduate programs in Dentistry, Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting. We offer graduate programs in Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Oral Biology, Oral Medicine, Orthodontics and Periodontology.

There are 24 Faculty, 42 Academic Teaching Staff (ATS), and 115 Excluded Academic staff, that are supported by the Student & Academic Services unit.

**Position**

The Curriculum Quality Assurance Coordinator (CQAC) is responsible for planning, designing, implementing and supporting program evaluation, quality improvement and educational assessment activities for all Dentistry programs. This includes administration of curriculum management systems, supporting faculty in the use of such systems and the associated training. Central to the CQAC position is the collection, analysis and reporting of data accurately, and in a timely manner, to individual instructors, committees, and administrative leaders to support on-going improvement and decision making.

**Duties**

**Curriculum Research & Training Initiatives Analysis/Support**
- Design and implement research activities related to curriculum quality improvement and program evaluation.
- Design and develop educational training materials and frameworks relating to assurance of learning.
- Support and contribute to the organization and coordination of student-initiated activities for curriculum improvement.
- Provide input on the overall direction and long-term strategic planning of data-gathering instruments and systems and collaborate in the development of these instruments and their subsequent use for the collection of data.

**Curriculum and Learning Management Systems (e.g., eClass, Canvas and.med suite)**
- Provide ongoing support, enhancements and usage of the technologies of the Curriculum and Learning Management Systems (e.g., eClass/Canvas, and.med suite).
- Responsible for collection of student clinical evaluations and grading to calculate final grades and provide mid year reporting.
- Compiling all student grades, calculating averages of each type of grade category, weighted final grade averages, calculating the rank of students, and inputting into LMS and/or sheets to determine Academic Standing.
- Exam data analysis and reporting, including point by point analysis, review of question tagging, using tags to export discipline level results.

**Quality Assurance/Continuous Improvement Administration**
- Organize, facilitate and conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection, management and analysis including all reporting aspects of course, instructor and program evaluation (USRIs, SPOT, focus groups, surveys).
- Conduct quality assurance audit reviews on course outlines specific to assessment and evaluation.
- Develop, implement, and manage curriculum evaluation plans and processes to assure the Department is meeting defined educational, strategic and accreditation outcomes and standards.
- Provide a wide variety of comprehensive reporting within tight deadlines.
