Job Description
- The Nuna Group of Companies is now accepting resumes for a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager. Nuna is the largest Inuit-owned heavy civil construction, earthworks, and mine construction contractor in Canada.
- Reporting to the Corporate Quality Manager, the QA/QC Manager will be responsible for maintaining the highest level of quality for our client. This position is site based and working in the Edmonton area.

Job Requirements

**Provide leadership and technical support to Quality Assurance Coordinators**- Determine acceptance or rejection of work and turnover packages
- Provide support to the estimating team, as required, with quality assurance bid requirements and submittals
- Review bid requirements for quality assurance and quality control requirements
- Maintain internal audit procedures and revise as requested by external auditors, i.e. ISO or OFI
- Plan and schedule the annual management meeting review as per internal ISO Quality Assurance manual
- Maintain and revise the project file index and develop a unified system across the organization
- Liaise with external clients to finalize and deliver on quality deliverables as required and requested internally from operations management
- Revise manuals and procedures, as required, to reflect organizational structure and industry changes
- Represent the organization in industry associations, the various communities in which the organization operates, and participate in the various committees and panels which have influence on government, environmental, or regulatory agencies to advance goodwill, public awareness, and to protect the interests of the corporation

**Oversee and maintain quality assurance and controls programs and certifications**- Ensure all Quality Control requirements are in compliance, including inspection and testing of on-going and completed systems and installations
- Manage the internal Quality Assurance manual
- Lead the design, development, implementation and continuous improvement of corporate Quality Assurance systems and processes
- Manage and maintain the provincial regulatory agencies certifications, e.g. ABSA, BCSA, and SBB
- Manage the ISO 9001:2000 certification
- Prepare and execute ISO external audits
- Ensure quality registrations are up to date and maintained

**Deliver quality assurance and controls direction and training across the organization**- Provide quality managerial support to project sites
- Provide training and support for the quality assurance representatives and coordinators
- Provide leadership and technical support to the quality assurance representatives and coordinators
- Collaborate and liaise with the Health, Safety and Environment team to resolve related issues

**Lead quality assurance and controls process improvement**- Research and initiate methods for improving quality assurance and controls process improvements
- Ensure continuous improvement of quality and processes
- Lead and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and projects

**Conduct internal audits on quality assurance and controls programs, systems and processes**- Perform audits on construction activities against contractor's quality controls plans
- Perform quality assurance audits periodically as described in each project site quality assurance plan
- Maintain audits and surveillance records and as required conduct a follow up
- Plan and schedule ISO internal audits as per internal Quality Assurance manual
- Ensure that all sites are in compliance with the internal Quality Assurance manual

**Work Experience**:

- Minimum 7 years' experience within quality management or estimating
- Industrial construction and/or mining experience preferred

**Education**:

- Engineering Degree or Engineering Technology Diploma

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements**:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to successfully lead a team of professionals and technical people in the development of systems and programs
- Computer knowledge with Proficiency in MS Office ( Word, Excel & Outlook)
- Knowledge of a variety of estimating methods and techniques
- Knowledge of project management functions, contract administration, procurement, material control, economics, accounting, labour laws, contract and legal matters
- Capacity to determine program objectives and requirements and to develop standards
