Endoscopy / Medical Device Service Dept Supervisor

Nature and Scope of Position
- Supervisor oversees the day to day operations; Handles the technical request and concerns from the technician’s, administration, and customer’s. Repairing the overflow of damaged endoscopes
General Responsibilities
- Day to day operations.
- Maintains a safe working environment.

- Maintains the specified repair turn times.
- Training the repair technicians.
- Distributing the repair work.
- Maintain maximum efficiencies within the service department.
- Compiling the repair quotations.
- Assessing supplier components and overall quality of components
Quality control
- Accessing the image quality and functionality of a repaired endoscope.
- Testing the optical and physical parameters.
- Performing the final quality check list.
- Completing the Quality Control Documents
- Assist with repairs when volume is high.
- On-site product assessments in healthcare facilities
- On-site training related to product handling and education
Activities
- Accessing endoscopes received for repair and producing quotations upon delivery to the shop.
- Providing Customer service, a technical explanation of repair work, if required.
- Determine the repair level of a work order if required
- Distribution of the work orders to the technicians based on repair level.
- Answer any question pertaining to the repair order a technician may have.
- Assist the technician with any aspect of the repair.
- Determine the quality of parts that may be reused if required.
- Assist the technician in achieving the desired properties.
- Designing optical systems or fabrication of components that will be required to complete complex repairs.
- Daily training / instruction with repair technician.
- Rebuilding of optical and physical components if required.
- Inspecting any parts that must be returned to stock as new parts.
- Testing new parts, tools, and products.
- Building new tools and parts.
- Dealing with the customer’s technical questions.
- Performing the final Quality control testing procedures.
- On-site Product maintenance inspections and educational training.
Knowledge & Experience
- Complete understanding of the optical system and how it works.
- Complete understanding of the mechanical system and how it works.
- Minimum of 3 years repair/service of medical devices.
- Minimum of 3 years of Quality control experience.
- Complete training on laser welding.
- Understanding of optical parts assembly.
- Understanding of mechanical parts assembly.
- First-hand knowledge of optical and mechanical parts related to endoscopes.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and produce technical drawings.
- Ability to follow work instructions.
- Ability to work with precision.
- Ability to work with a microscope.
- Ability to use a soldering iron.
- Excellent hand eye coordination
- Must be able to stay organized.
- Laser welding
- Lathe operation.
- Ability to diagnose and problem solve.
Work Environment, Health and Safety
- Work area must by clean, tidy, and organized.
- All clutter must be removed from the workstation.
- Tooling must be stored in the appropriated areas.
- Work gloves must be worn when using any heating tools.
- Safety glasses must be worn when using any rotary cutting tools.
- Food should not be present at any time at the work bench.
Physical Demands
- Ability to handle and examine small optical and mechanical parts.
- Counting of small parts.
- Ability to work in a clean environment.
- Ability to work under a microscope.
- Ability to sit at a desk for the duration of the workday.
**Salary**: From $55,000.00 per year
