The **Municipal Accounting Assistant** is responsible for Accounts payable and utilities. This position is 35 hours per week (7 hours per day) Monday to Friday with one hour for lunch.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Municipal Accounting Assistant will be responsible for:
1. Direct the accurate and timely payment of all accounts and issuing of cheques in accordance with Town policy.

2. Responsible for the Utilities maintenance as required, including regular billing and collection of payments.

3. Responsible for all month end balancing of utilities and payables.

4. To better serve the Town, partake in continuing education through university courses, seminars, and workshops as well as other related Professional Development.

5. Cross Train with other financial system positions.

6. Perform all other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Required Qualifications:

- Two years of related experiences or an equivalent combination of training and experiences would be an asset;
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Word and Excel;
- Communication and Organizational Skills;
- Capable of working with minimum supervision;
- General knowledge of the Town would be an asset;
- Evidence of successfully passing a police Criminal Record Check.

The salary range for this position is $53,026.17 - $67,171.97 per annum. Town of Athabasca offers a comprehensive benefit package.
