Athabasca County is currently seeking a skilled and motivated **Construction Coordinator** to join our Infrastructure / Public Works team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a results-driven professional to play a key role in the planning and delivery of road and bridge construction and maintenance projects throughout the County.
Reporting to the Public Works Manager, the Construction Coordinator supports and leads the coordination of various municipal construction projects, and is responsible for supervising crews and contractors, overseeing project timelines and budgets, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and promoting safe work practices on-site.
**Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the supervision, planning, coordinating, and organizing of road and bridge construction projects being either day labour or contract projects.
- Assist with records management, budget control, and contract supervision.
- Organize and provide direction to construction crew to meet required standards and specifications.
- Prepare cost estimates for County construction projects for each season of the year.
- Complete recording of job quantities, costs, and other particulars related to construction as well as compile and verify all pay quantities including equipment payments, materials, invoice, etc.
- Maintain a daily diary outlining all activities performed and all abnormal conditions encountered as well as customer requests and complaints.
- Assist in the preparation of the construction portion of the Road Construction and Maintenance budget and ensure that all expenditures are within budget.
- Assist in preparation of contract packages with specification of construction projects for tendering to bidders.
- Ensure safe working practices are observed and report all OH&S related injuries or property damage regardless of severity within appropriate timelines.
- Conduct investigations and submit reports on accidents and other hazardous conditions discovered in the County road network and promptly attend to all hazardous situations.
- Other duties as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS**
- Post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in the design and construction of municipal infrastructure.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable municipal, provincial, and federal legislation applicable to the maintenance and construction of municipal roadways and bridges.
- Excellent written and oral communications kills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively and professionally with the public, colleagues, governmental agencies, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of municipal procurement policies and practices.
- Valid Class 5 license with clean abstract.
Pay: $89,000.00-$111,320.00 per year
