Athabasca County is currently seeking a dedicated and professional Accounts Receivable /Utilities Clerk to join our Corporate Services team.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this key role will provide accounting and clerical support, manage utility billing, maintain accurate records, and offer friendly and knowledgeable service to residents and internal departments.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide friendly, professional service to the public answering inquiries and assisting with their accounts.
- Invoicing including preparing the monthly billings for all County of Athabasca Utility accounts, department invoices for services, interdepartmental payments.
- Setup new utility accounts and field inquiries from the public regarding deposits, billings, payments, etc.
- Follow up on unpaid invoices and/or accounts that are in arrears and initiate collections as directed by the department supervisor.
- Prepare daily bank deposits, required cash sheets, and post reports to the General Ledger.
- Reconcile and prepare deposits for the Forfar and Hope Lake campgrounds.
- Assisting reception with the public at the front counter; accepting payments, processing cash receipts, answering phones, preparing the daily mail, greeting the public, and directing inquiries to the proper departments.
- Ensure that the financial information and/or filing for the Accounts Receivable / Cash Receipts department is properly retained and organized in accordance with the County’s records retention guidelines.
- Provide backup to the Tax & Assessment Officer; fielding calls, answering inquiries, and providing general assistance.
- Assist other County Departments as required.
- Other duties as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS**
- Post-Secondary diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or related program.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in accounts receivable, or a similar financial role, preferably in a municipal setting.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with accounting software considered an asset.
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer systems.

Pay: $61,103.00-$76,427.00 per year
