The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Regional Commander of Central Region seeks a qualified individuals to join our team. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will provide operational support to the detachment. To provide administrative support to Detachment personnel in the co-ordination and processing of administrative services. **Note: this position follows a shiftwork schedule that includes evenings, overnights, and weekends.** **About Us**: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees and 830 Auxiliary officers. We provide essential services that ensure the safety and security of the people of the Province of Ontario. The OPP is a division of the Ministry of the Solicitor General, the largest operational ministry in the province with a presence in every community across Ontario. We are the largest police service in Ontario and the second largest in Canada. The Town of Caledon is situated within the Peel Region, covering 700 square kilometers and consisting of rural, urban, agricultural and recreational lands. The Ontario Provincial Police deliver policing services to the Town of Caledon, while the Peel Regional Police services the remainder of Peel Region. The Town of Caledon is unique in that it shares a southern border with the largely urban City of Brampton, while sitting in the southern reaches of the Hills of Headwaters tourism area and portions of the Niagara Escarpment. The scenic countryside and quaint villages of Caledon offer many recreational activities including: hiking, fishing, cycling and 35 kilometers of multi-use trail way established along non-functional rail lines. There are also Conservation Areas and the Forks of the Credit Provincial Park located within Caledon. Many recreational areas are connected by the scenic Bruce Hiking Trail and multi-use trail system. While many recreational activities can be enjoyed in Caledon year-round, the warmer months draw additional visitors to enjoy these natural resources and recreational opportunities. Refer to the "How to apply" section if you require a disability-related accommodation. **What can I expect to do in this role?**: To provide administrative support to Detachment personnel in the co-ordination and processing of administrative services. **How do I qualify?**: **Mandatory**: - Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation. - 40 w.p.m. typing speed. - Ability to work 12 hour shifts in a 24-hour rotating shift environment. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**: - Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures, Adequacy Standards, police, fire and other emergency service's procedures, practices and techniques. - Knowledge of and skill in computer operation and software including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to produce court documents and type correspondence, and ability to retrieve data/information and perform queries from multiple databases. - Knowledge of records management practices to maintain an organized, up-to-date records system. - Ability to transcribe video, audiotapes. - Ability to independently plan and prioritize administrative work on a daily basis in accordance with established manuals, practices and procedures. - Ability to use problem solving skills to provide assistance in fast paced or emergency situations. - Oral communication skills to clarify the nature of requests, relay messages, and respond to enquiries by providing detailed information, in person and by phone to agencies, companies, court and legal personnel, police services. - Written communication skills to input accurate information, compose correspondence, proofread a variety of documents, compile reports and summarize information. **Application Instructions**: Resume / cover letter must be received no later than 11:59 pm on the closing date.
