**Job description**
SMRT Health is seeking a highly enthusiastic and committed Medical Office Assistant at our busy Edmonton clinic to provide administrative support for a group of practitioners and naturopathic doctors - who have come together with a common goal: to create a mind-body-spirit medical center that is peaceful, energetically grounded, heart centred and space to support ourselves, our patients, and our community. This is a great opportunity to work with a group of doctors and practitioners who will model and teach optimal health.
This opportunity is suited for someone who is enjoys dealing with people, is cordial and personable and able to deliver a patient experience that reflects the high quality of care we deliver. Someone who is organized and self-guided with good communication skills and understands the important role of carrying the patient experience through to the end.
**This is a part-time position of 20-25 hours.**
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for answering phone calls, fielding/directing calls, and relaying messages to appropriate individuals as required.
- Receives, greets, and directs walk-in clients, vendors, and visitors and responds to general inquiries in a professional and positive manner.
- Prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, and medical records.
- Interview patients to complete intake forms or other documents or help patients complete health history forms.
- Keep examination areas clean, orderly, and stocked with supplies.
- Perform minor medical duties, such as preparing the consultation room.
- Use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software to prepare medical documents.
- Perform other clerical and administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
- Supports and monitors direct billing, collecting fees and supplement sales.
- Request medical reports as needed.
- Receive, unpack, and re-stock dispensary items and dispense supplements to patients as prescribed.
- Track and order clinic supplies, supplements, and lab test kits, as well as ship various lab test.
- Clean daily work area, treatment room chairs, waiting area, bathroom, and staff common areas.
- Other duties as required.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Office Assistant/Unit Clerk certificate program.
- Minimum of two years’ experience managing a front desk or customer service experience required.
- Experience with Direct Billing: TELUS portal, Blue Cross & Green Shield Canada.
- Experience with JaneApp EMR systems/software is preferred.
- Relevant healthcare experience preferred.
- Excellent Interpersonal skills to establish a professional rapport with and instil confidence in patients.
- Conflict-resolution skills to deal effectively with the sometimes-difficult behaviours of people in distress.
- Communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- The ability to maintain accuracy while multitasking or working under pressure.
- A mature attitude toward the human body, wellness processes.
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficient typing skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
