**The Role**: Lab Manager

**Job Dimensions**:

- DIRECT REPORTS: Indirect reports: Pharmacy assistants that work in compounding laboratory whose work is directly overseen by lab manager but who also report to pharmacy manager._
- FINANCIAL: Responsible for pharmacy P&L, specifically performance of laboratory script count and revenue while controlling expenses/supplies associated with the lab._
- OTHER: Responsible for assisting the organization in implementing regulatory changes and being compliant in other locations, as necessary. Responsible for assessing and adjusting laboratory SOPs._

**Principal Responsibilities**:

- Maintain standard operating procedures for the compounding team to adhere to in order to produce safe and effective compounds.
- Ensure appropriate training is in place for the safe and effective preparation of the compounds.
- Monitor compounding prescription trends to identify changes to staffing/equipment that may be needed to improve efficiency.
- Identify workflow improvements to ensure that compounds are released from the lab in a timely manner to meet customer expectations.
- Identify risks to the compounding business and provide options for mitigating the risks.
- Source compounding supplies and ingredients in order to reduce expenses and maintain supply for compounding production.
- Ensure the compounding lab meets the company’s objectives both fiscally and operationally.
- Manage relationship with delivery providers
- Navigate shipping portals for on time delivery of compounds to customers
- Ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment
- Review and forward all Accounts Payable to Head Office.
- Review and follow-up on Accounts Receivable within the guidelines of the company.
- Ensure accounts payable and accounts receivable are reconciled on a regular basis to maintain proper cash flow within the business.
- Answer the telephone and deal with clientele in a professional and courteous manner.
- Present the proper image to the public in accordance with company standards (Clean appearance, approved uniform and name badge.)
- Ensure all Loss Prevention standards are upheld in all aspects associated with the job duties as per SOP
- Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements.
- Maintain standards of image and housekeeping.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Rexall Pharmacy Group ULC

**Knowledge, skills and experience**:

- Working knowledge of Propel System
- Strong understanding of NAPRA standards
- 2+ years leadership experience
- Proficient data entry and software knowledge for order entry and processing
- Demonstrate record keeping standards and practices.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal areas.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and within a team whenever necessary.
- Discretion in handling confidential matters and materials.
- Demonstrated reliability in previous work experience.

**Context and Environment**:
The lab manager works within the store, specifically the compounding laboratory area (sterile and non-sterile rooms). They may also be required to do conference calls or calls with suppliers/customers in the manager’s office. There is an inherent level of ambient noise associated with the compounding laboratory filter fans, unguators, phones, and other equipment.
