The Faculty of Arts & Science is looking for a **0.5FTE**Science Lab Coordinator. Reporting to the Chair, Engineering, the Lab Coordinator will work with science and engineering instructors to support delivery and facilitation of skills in the lab setting only. The coordinator will maintain lab equipment, order materials when needed, prepare weekly lab sessions for instructors and learners, perform safe cleaning and disposal of lab materials, and ensure the lab is ready for instructor and learner use. **THE PROGRAM**

**HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE**:

- Lab Operations & Supply Management
- Collaborate with course instructors to forecast resources needed to reach course objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner.
- Connect and communicate with internal supply chain management to ensure accurate stock and inventory of required lab supplies.
- In collaboration with supply chain management, liaise with external vendors to determine appropriate vendors.
- Maintain order and cleanliness of lab rooms and storage areas.
- Conduct routine checks of lab equipment and arrange maintenance, repairs, and replacement as necessary.
- Prepare lab materials and specimens according to schedule.
- Ensure labs are set up prior to use.
- Safely clean and store lab materials after use.
- Safely dispose of lab waste using appropriate method and coordinate pickup/disposal of chemical biological waste
- Establish schedule for lab preparation and content delivery according to semester timetable and academic schedules.
- Act as resource for lab equipment use.
- Ensure lab signage and safety precautions are present
- Lab Course Facilitation and Student Evaluation
- Assist with lab safety instruction and monitoring.
- Facilitate and monitor students completing skills within the science labs
- Assist course faculty with skill demonstration if required
- Provide students with feedback according to lab manual and rubrics
- Provide student remediation when required
- Maintain appropriate student records of attendance, performance, and grades
- Collaborate with course instructors to identify areas of strength and opportunity for course development
- Collaborate with course instructors to support student success in lab components of courses.
- Modelling professional and safety standards in the lab setting.
- Attend team meetings

**WHAT YOU BRING**:

- Miniumum Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, physics, or related field.
- Minimum 1 year experience teaching/leading in a post-secondary science lab setting.
- Knowledge and proficiency with standard lab equipment including microscopes, autoclaves, gas burners, specimens, chemicals, etc.
- Experience with laboratory consumable ordering and inventory management
- Current WHMIS certification
- Strong commitment to safe lab practices, certification in laboratory, chemical, biosafety training an asset
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle and Blackboard, comfort with technology and software to teach online/hybrid if required
