- Are you passionate about helping newcomers and refugees navigate the Canadian settlement system while improving their financial literacy and overall wellbeing? Join The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) as a System Navigator for Settlement & Financial Literacy, where you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals and families as they build financial stability and successfully integrate into Canadian society.
**About the Role**:
- As a System Navigator, you will provide personalized support, advocacy, and resource connections to help newcomers access housing, employment, financial education, and settlement services. You will also offer guidance on basic mental health awareness and stress management, ensuring clients are connected to appropriate resources as they adapt to life in Canada.
- Through assessments, one-on-one consultations, and workshops, you will equip newcomers with financial knowledge, budgeting skills, and strategies for navigating government services and resources. Your role will also involve collaborating with community organizations, service providers, and stakeholders to strengthen support networks for newcomers and refugees.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments to identify settlement, financial literacy, and basic mental health needs.
- Develop personalized action plans to support financial stability and settlement goals.
- ** Conduct outreach activities and community engagement initiatives** to promote **settlement resources** available to newcomers and refugees.
- Guide clients through the Canadian settlement system, connecting them to housing assistance, employment services, language programs, and financial resources.
- Advocate for clients, ensuring they receive the appropriate support to overcome settlement and financial barriers.
- Deliver educational settlement workshops that includes: a financial literacy session, a mental health session to ensure the wellbeing of the newcomer clients.
- Provide culturally appropriate guidance and referrals to mental health support services when needed.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date client records and documentation in compliance with privacy and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams, service providers, and community organizations to strengthen settlement and financial literacy programs.
- Stay informed about policies, programs, and best practices related to settlement services, financial literacy, and mental wellbeing for newcomers.
- Participate in outreach initiatives and community engagement activities to raise awareness about available settlement and financial literacy resources.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, ensuring services are accessible to individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently.
**Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counselling, community development, financial literacy, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years in settlement services and non-for-profit organizations, financial counseling, or a related role working with newcomers and refugees.
- Fluency in multiple languages is an asset.
