Stability & Systems Navigator - Edmonton Gateway Association Alberta is one of Alberta’s leading disability organizations supporting equity‑seeking individuals and families. With deep roots and forward‑thinking approaches, we support individuals with disabilities and their families to navigate systems, achieve goals, and thrive in welcoming, equitable communities and workplaces. We do this through three powerful pillars: our Family Resource Centre, Employment Resource Centres, and strategic education and capacity‑building initiatives. As a nimble and responsive organization, we pursue meaningful partnerships and community collaborations to drive the systemic change that true disability justice requires. Overview The Stability & Systems Navigator plays a key role in supporting participants of the Stepping Stones Program to achieve stability in areas such as housing, food security, income support, and overall wellbeing. This role provides individualized guidance, coaching, and system navigation to help participants identify and achieve personal goals, access resources, and build confidence in managing life’s challenges. Acting as a consistent point of contact throughout the program, the Navigator ensures participants remain supported, connected, and empowered from intake through to transition. The program is funded through Family and Community Support Services in Edmonton and is designed to support individuals and families to achieve greater capacity and reduce the likelihood of poverty and homelessness. This program will be delivered through a partnership between Gateway Association, Multi‑Cultural Health Brokers Cooperative (MCHB), and the Pride Centre, drawing on collective expertise to strengthen participant engagement, adapt content to reflect lived realities, and connect individuals to trusted community supports. Direct Duties Conduct program onboarding for participants and support connections with partners to engage individuals in the program. Provide one‑on‑one support two days per week, helping participants apply workshop learning to their real‑life situations. Assist participants with system navigation, including housing supports, benefits access, tax filings, childcare subsidies, and community resources. Co‑develop individualized goal plans (life tool kits) with participants that reflect their goals, strengths, and lived realities. Support participants in building their “Life Toolkit” of checklists, resource maps, and personalized tools, introducing reflective questions that promote ongoing self‑awareness. Track participant progress, document case notes, and contribute to program evaluation by sharing participant outcomes and system feedback. Maintain strong knowledge of local resources, programs, and services to act as a “connector” for participants. Track referrals, resource use, and identify service gaps to inform program development. Support integration of Life Toolkit resources into workshops and one‑on‑one sessions. Encourage participants to contribute to the shared resource hub by documenting their own strategies and insights. Support a trauma‑informed, culturally safe, and disability‑inclusive approach. Collaborate with partner organizations such as the MCHB and Pride Centre to ensure supports are accessible and relevant. Assist with transition planning during the wrap‑up phase of the program. Respond to participant inquiries and provide follow‑up as needed (via email or phone). Lead Accountabilities Participant Engagement – Acts as the consistent point of contact for participants throughout their journey; leads onboarding, trust‑building, and individualized goal‑setting. Stability Planning – Coordinates holistic, participant‑centred stability plans addressing housing, income, and family wellbeing; ensures alignment with workshop learning and resource use. Systems Navigation – Serves as the main guide in helping participants navigate complex systems (housing, financial supports, healthcare, childcare, etc.), reducing barriers and promoting self‑advocacy. Coordination & Partnership – Liaises across partner organizations (MCHB, Pride Centre, community services) to ensure continuity of care, coordinated supports, and culturally relevant service delivery. Tracking & Outcomes – Maintains responsibility for accurate participant data, progress tracking, and contributions to evaluation and reporting processes. Transition & Continuity – Facilitates end‑of‑program transition planning to ensure participants leave with clear next steps, resources, and sustained community connections. The Commitment Full‑time position, working 37.5 hours per week. We believe in work‑life balance and are committed to keeping the workload aligned with true hours worked.
