**NAVIGATOR/ASSERTIVE OUTREACH WORKER**

**The Her Way Project** is a new initiative that assists with the reintegration of women who currently incarcerated within the Edmonton area. We provide full wrap around supports in the areas of housing, addictions, counselling, family reunification, life skills and employment skills development with the end goal of securing employment, reduced recidivism and stabilization. You will work with clients for up to a year as our Team provides assertive outreach and case management supports.

**Responsibilities**
- Establish relationship-based practice and build positive rapport with high-risk clients, family members & their professional supports while working closely alongside and collaborating with community partners.
- Assist and develop release plans for clients currently incarcerated. Develop a detailed service plan for clients newly reintegrating into society over the course of 12 months.
- Provide support and resources to clients & families in accessing applicable community resources.
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning to clients.
- Advocate ensuring basic needs of clients are being met.
- Respect and meet the various cultural needs of the participant.
- Provide guidance and support and make referrals for participant on issues related to health, family, addictions, justice, education, employment, recreation and housing.
- Establish working relationships with other community service agencies within the field.
- Evening or Weekend Shift Work/ Crisis Intervention as required.
- Any other related tasks assigned by Supervisor/Team Lead.

**Qualification Requirements**
- Human Services degree or diploma; with a minimum of 2 years of relevant related experience. A combination of related work experience would also be considered.
- Knowledge of indigenous peoples, new immigrants, ethno-cultural groups and vulnerable populations.
- Knowledge of addictions, gangs, sexual exploitation, homelessness, poverty, use and neglect.
- Knowledge of youth criminal justice system would be an asset
- Basic computer and report writing skills, including Microsoft Office and experience working with data base.
- Ability to model and teach appropriate behaviors such as communication, conflict management, problem solving, decision making and non-abuse behavior management.
- Strong interpersonal skills with good oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of the Indigenous culture and language is an asset.
- Must have own vehicle and be willing to transport clients.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and willing to obtain a drivers abstract
- Must have 2-million-dollar liability insurance coverage
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Intervention Record Check (within a 6-month period from date of completion).

**Salary and Benefits**
- Salary plus monthly auto allowance.
- Paid sick and wellness days after 3 months’ probation (pro-rated)
- Extended Health Benefit (50/50 cost sharing) after 6 months’ employment.
- Working approximately 34.5 hours per week
