The Outreach Worker is responsible for connecting with marginalized individuals living in poverty or in unsound encampments across Edmonton. The Outreach Worker engages with community members and helps them navigate resources and services that best suit their needs while also helping them transition to a more stable and safer lifestyle.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Build rapport with individuals living in poverty and gain an understanding of their stories and their needs.
- Develop personal profiles for community members and identify the major sub-groups and proportions they represent
- Connect with businesses, storeowners, community groups, residents, City of Edmonton, EPS, EMS, hospitals and other service agencies that encounter individuals frequenting the streets
- Liaise and be the contact person in crisis situations between people who are homeless and others in the community
- Appropriately help each person experiencing homelessness along the scale of health and integration based on life situations, desire and opportunities
- Be a liaison for various helping agencies
- Identify service gaps in meeting the needs of people on the streets
- Discuss how to have a healthy level of coexistence, tolerance and respect among everyone
- Respond to overdoses and other related crisis by following the proper protocol
- Facilitate the development of standards of behavior expected in the areas
- BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.
**Qualifications**
- Post Secondary Degree in a relevant field (Social Services, Social Sciences is preferred) and/or relevant work experience
- Lived expierience is beneficial and an asset
- Valid Class 5 Non GDL license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months
- Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course
Experience with and knowledge of Indigenous culture and ceremonies is considered an asset.
