**About the Role**
Our team is responsible for negotiating and drafting the agreements relating to animation and live-action content development, creation, and exploitation, including the following types of agreements: writers, option purchase, co-development and coproduction, talent, broadcast licenses and production services. The team is also responsible for all legal work on our animated and live action productions, intellectual property matters, clearances, arranging for and reporting to Canadian production funds (e.g. CMF) and Telefilm Canada for treaty co-productions, and production financing.
**Responsibilities**
- Work alongside our business and legal affairs team to negotiate, draft and advise on a wide variety of content development and production agreements, including rights acquisition, co-development and co-production, production services agreements and key talent agreements
- Provide solutions-oriented and timely legal and business affairs advice to development and productions executives on all matters, including evaluation chain of title, clearance matters, guild and union issues, advertising, and promotion
- Providing ongoing legal and business affairs advice to various stakeholders in the company; working with studio executives on client management and ongoing high level of service delivery
- Providing legal clearance services on our animated and live action productions
**Qualifications**
- Sound knowledge and experience in entertainment law with a focus on content development and production. Experience in animation is considered an asset
- J.D or LLB and Law Society of Ontario or British Columbia Membership in good standing
- Proven legal and business judgement to make effective decisions and problem-solve
- Positive, professional team player who can work independently, reliably, and efficiently
- Proactive, creative, and practical; solutions-oriented to complex issues
- Excellent drafting, time management and organizational skills to consistently deliver high quality, reliable work while meeting tight timelines
- Curiosity and a desire to take on new and exciting challenges in a rapidly evolving environment
