The ideal candidate will have: 3-5 years of civil litigation experience, including hearing experience Commercial litigation, administrative and public law experience Media/defamation law experience is an asset Excellent academic credentials Strong technical, legal, research and drafting skills combined with excellent organization skills Ability to work with lawyers at all levels and be a team player Able to balance competing demands as well as being self‑motivated, innovative and flexible Ability to manage document intensive files Confidence to manage files and clients independently Demonstrated strengths in entrepreneurialism including client service, client relationships and client development The successful candidate will work with our experienced team of lawyers on a variety of challenging and diverse matters ranging from defamation, publication bans, copyright disputes and access to information requests, to professional regulation and discipline cases, judicial reviews of government decision‑making and more. Our Media lawyers represent key media outlets including Canada’s national newspaper, Canada’s largest private broadcaster, major news and entertainment media organizations, prominent book publishers, media insurers and new media start‑ups.
