The Program Support Supervisor will provide direct support to both the Dragonfly and Resiliency Program in the areas of supervision, administration and safety. The Program Support Supervisor will be expected to establish and maintain open, effective communication between programs and other stakeholders to complete job duties. **The rotation is 4 days on 4 days off, 10:00pm-10:00am.**

The Program Support Supervisor ensures that practitioners are maintaining or increasing the level of safety, well-being, permanency, and connection to supports available to their clients in the moment. Furthermore, this dynamic position ensures that the intent of legislation, contracts, standards, and policy and procedures are adhered to by themselves and the practitioners they engage with. These two focuses are addressed utilizing an ethical frame work that is client driven.

This position is accountable to the Dragonfly Program Manager.

**Major Job Responsibilities**
- Ensures that all overnight activities are completed by the Overnight Child and Youth Care Workers and reports any concerns or issues to the applicable program manager.
- Assist with escalations and safety concerns.
- Cover shifts as needed.
- Ensures the safety and wellbeing of children and youth during overnight hours.
- Develop positive relationships with workers and children and youth through the process of positive role modeling and mentoring.
- Supporting children and youth in developing a range of healthy individual coping and problem-solving skills, conflict and anger management skills, communication skills, and life management skills to enhance emotional wellbeing.
- Teaching daily living skills, hygiene/self-care, boundaries, healthy sexuality, social skills, and positive decision-making and independent living skills.
- Ensuring that basic needs of children and youth are met (food, clothing, and shelter).
- Ensuring that educational needs are met (assistance with homework, day programming when child or youth is not in school), provide basic care, supervision and counseling of children and youth.
- Preventative steps to avoid children and youth influencing negative behaviours in others and encouraging appropriate discussions and behaviours.
- Encouraging residents to comply with rules and routines.
- Creating consistency of house rules, routines and consequences.
- Consequence children or youth and recommending or initiating other measures to control physically aggressive/inappropriate behavior and ensure safety.
- Will complete after-hour crisis shifts as needed as part of overnight rotation.
- Flexibility in schedule.
- Utilizes the best interests of the children and youth in all capacities.
- Serve as on-call authority for the smooth function of all programs
- Notify Program Manager or designate of urgent concerns
- Receive and address practitioner, caseworker and client grievances and relay the information to the appropriate supervisor
- Conducting safety check-ins

- Keep the Program Manager informed of the needs and problems of the program
- Assist practitioners in completing risk assessments and safety plans
- Ensure standards compliance and quality assurance daily
- Provide guidance and support for workflow management
- Provide service delivery expertise in the management of on-call and emergencies
- Audit client files routinely and provide service delivery expertise in documentation of Care Plans, Assessments, Critical Incidents, reports and service team meetings
- Direct staff response to emergencies, e.g. severe weather, fire or bomb scares
- Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Serve on committees as assigned
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, residents, families, professionals and the public
- Participation in supervisions, program meetings and supervision groups
- Ensure all direct reports maintain human resource documentation and training requirements
- Ensure knowledge of client population needs and treatment/intervention sources
- Read, analyze and interpret practice standards, professional journals, technical procedures and government standards and regulations
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of issues
- Understand current theory based on trauma informed practice, child development, grief and loss
