Overnight Child and Youth Care Worker

**Job Summary**
We are seeking a dedicated **Hybrid Youth Worker** to provide consistent support to children and adolescents in both daytime and overnight settings, with a primary focus on **overnight supervision** (approximately 70% overnight, 30% daytime shifts). This role is essential to maintaining a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for youth, particularly during overnight hours when supervision and crisis support are critical.

The Overnight Youth Worker is responsible for staying awake and alert throughout the night to monitor safety, respond to emotional or behavioral needs, and document any incidents or concerns. During daytime shifts, responsibilities may include educational support, facilitating activities, and collaborating with other professionals to promote positive development and social engagement.

**Duties**
- **Overnight Duties (Primary - ~70%)**:

- Stay awake, alert, and responsive throughout all overnight shifts to ensure the safety and well-being of youth in care.

**Daytime Duties (Secondary - ~30%)**
- Assist in planning and facilitating structured daytime activities that support personal growth, social development, and emotional regulation.
- Provide one-on-one or group support to youth during recreational, educational, or therapeutic programming.
- Collaborate with team members to implement individual support or behavior management plans.
- Attend team meetings, trainings, or case reviews as scheduled.
- Supervise transportation or transitions (e.g., from school to program, to appointments, etc.), if needed.
- Communicate observations or concerns about youth progress, behavior, or needs with supervisors and case team.

**General Expectations**
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with youth while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
- Ensure that youth with disabilities receive appropriate accommodations and support.
- Support a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment at all times.
- Uphold agency policies and licensing/regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular room and safety checks in accordance with agency policies.
- Monitor and document behavior, sleep patterns, and any incidents during the night.
- Respond appropriately to crises or behavioral issues that may arise during overnight hours, using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain a calm, supportive, and structured overnight environment.
- Administer medication (if trained and authorized) and document all health-related interactions.
- Complete nightly logs, incident reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
- Prepare the environment for morning routines (e.g., light cleaning, setting out breakfast items, waking youth at scheduled times).

**Requirements**:

- Experience working with children or adolescents in a professional or volunteer capacity is preferred.
- Knowledge of strategies for supporting individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with youth and collaborate with team members.
- Ability to educate youth on various topics related to personal development, social skills, and academic success.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping young people succeed.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to accommodate program schedules.
- A commitment to creating a positive impact on the lives of youth through dedicated support and guidance.

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
