The Truro Pride Society Board of Directors are excited to be looking for a Program Coordinator that will engage with the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Truro/Colchester and help us develop partnerships with other organizations. The primary focus of the Program Coordinator position will be to increase knowledge and capacity, and to advance equality with respect to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression in Truro/Colchester and to development partnership relationships with other pride organizations within rural communities.
**About Truro Pride Society**
Mission: The Truro Pride Society creates conversations and fosters understanding between 2SLGBTQIA+ community members and the members of the local, traditional, and social communities in which they reside. Conversations are respectful, inclusive, celebrate diversity, and conducted to encourage intersectionality. Truro Pride will advocate for safer spaces, celebratory events, such as the Truro Pride Parade, and better understanding of 2SLGBTQIA+ challenges and successes.
Vision: The Truro Pride Society works to improve the representation and wellbeing of the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community within the larger communities of Truro and Colchester County while celebrating the diversity, uniqueness, and relevance of us all in relation to each other.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Engaging with the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community through hosting/planning awareness/educational events, developing and conducting community surveys, developing promotional materials, and resource materials
- Creating or strengthening partnerships with other organizations including other non-profit organizations, local businesses, and multiple levels of government
- Advocating for awareness and visibility opportunities for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community (flag raising ceremonies, educational sessions, or other similar events)
- Travelling throughout Nova Scotia and the Maritime Region to engage with other organizations or community groups
- Attend board meetings, present progress reports
- Social media and website updating
- Planning and execution of a regional symposium-style event
**Qualifications**
- Experience working with 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations and communities
- Experience in the non-profit sector
- Ability to efficiently manage time and manage multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders
- Working with volunteers and boards
- Developing community-based program
- Media relations
- Website/Social media experience
**Job Details**:
**Gross Salary: $56,200/year**
**Location: Truro, Nova Scotia (Office/meeting space provided, remote work may be required)**
**Reports to: Truro Pride Society Board of Directors**
**Travel necessary: Yes**
**Additional Notes**:
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle will be necessary, due to the travelling required
- Criminal record check and clearance to work in the vulnerable sector will be required
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 16 months
Pay: $56,200.00 per year
