**_ We are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician for our Afternoon Shift Team._**

**The hours of work are from 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday**

**Position Summary**: Reporting to the QA Manager, this role is responsible for protecting the integrity of food products by performing quality sampling, testing, and completing all necessary documentation to meet regulatory, customer, and company requirements. The incumbent will also help maintain compliance with hygiene, safety, and quality standards on the production floor.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Perform sampling and testing of raw materials and food products at key stages of the production process, ensuring quality standards meet customer and company specifications (e.g., sampling and testing seasonings, batter, breading, and marinade solutions).
- Conduct random sampling of food products, measuring weight, size, and thickness to ensure compliance with customer and company specifications.
- Utilize a wide variety of instruments and measuring devices for testing food samples, including analytical scales, ovens, centrifuges, automatic pipettes, etc.
- Assist in periodic checks of production and shipping/receiving areas for GMP compliance.
- Perform temperature checks on food products and ensure thermometers are properly calibrated.
- Coordinate with the production department to perform and collect swab samples as necessary.
- Ensure that metal detectors, analytical scales, and other food product screening devices are calibrated and in good working order.
- Assist the shipping and receiving department with inspecting the quality of raw materials to ensure suitability for production.
- Help conduct GMP training for production, maintenance, sanitation staff, and temporary team members.
- Support the production department in meeting the company's GMP, HACCP, and SOP standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives regarding GMPs and food safety.
- Examine new and existing supplies of food ingredients, cleaning chemicals, and packaging materials.
- Ensure employees and temporary workers comply with all applicable food safety standards.
- Complete quality inspection reports and other quality assurance documentation.
- Actively participate in food safety investigations.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Assist with general cleanup and other tasks as assigned.

**Qualifications**
- Strong attention to detail and evaluation skills, with a focused and diligent approach.
- 1-3 years of experience in Quality Assurance or food manufacturing.
- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Food Processing, or a related discipline is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with GMP, HACCP, food safety, and sanitation practices is an asset.
- Intermediate computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office (**Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)**are an asset.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a cool environment (2-4°C) - and with an awesome team
- Enthusiastic self-starter who can work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to multitask and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
