NSSL is looking for an HR Generalist responsible for providing their internal client groups and employees with support services for all HR-related matters. This role will provide accurate and efficient support an guidance for all HR transactions, administration and information in policies, guidelines, processes, programs and procedures If you are self-motivated and like working with a great team this position is for you. **Main Responsibilities** - Act as a guide to our managers and employees on matters relating to our internal policies and procedures, and with reference to the legislation. - Work closely with management and employees to improve working relationships, strengthen morale and increase productivity and retention. - Provide employee relations guidance to employees and leaders within scope of position; identify and actively respond with sensitivity to the needs of employees and business unit leaders - First point of contact for leaders and employees regarding HR related matters - Assist with investigating a variety of employee-related issues, incidents, and complaints; resolve disputes and recommend appropriate/remedial actions - Participate in disciplinary and termination meetings - Prepare HR letters, documents and communications - Support development and execution of HR policies and programs, implement and develop activities, tools and programs for the business, and support the people strategy and management activities. - Administer the NSSL benefits program, including answering inquiries - Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate. - manages the full life cycle recruiting activities for key department vacancies, in collaboration with the hiring managers. - Work in collaboration with Health and Safety to submit WSIB/WCB/CNNEST claims. - Effectively navigate systems to pull reports, review data and be able to spot and understand trends - Assist with the scheduling and coordination of new hire onboarding in order to create a welcoming experience - Ensure all new hire and onboarding documents are prepared, received, completed and filed - Assist with employee offboarding administration and exit interviews - Bring ideas, energy and insights that help us deliver world class people experiences - Act as a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion - Other duties as required **Qualifications** - Post secondary degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent. - Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience working in an HR Generalist or HR Advisory capacity or a combination of experience and post-secondary education in a related field is required - Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (both written & oral), multi-tasking and time-management skills - Meticulous attention to detail - A high level of initiative with a "can-do" attitude - Strong focus on providing exceptional customer service - A track record of exercising professionalism and confidentiality at all times - Flexibility and adaptability to frequently changing priorities and deadlines - Strong problem-solving abilities - Works well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment - Excellent MS Office Suite skills are required **About NSSL** We call it shunting but you may know it as: spotting, jockeying, yarding, or switching.
