A leading Tier I Automotive Manufacturing company is looking to hire a Human Resources Generalist
About the Position
Reporting to the Global Director of Human Resources, the Human Resource Generalist plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of HR programs and initiatives in a fast paced, unionized and growing global automotive business. The HR Generalist is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, the Human Resources Generalist will be expected to provide guidance to employees and leaders on a variety of HR topics.
Specific Responsibilities
- First point of contact for employees at the Brampton facility.
- Manage the full recruitment cycle which includes job posting, screening, testing, background checks, presenting offers, internal transfers, new hire orientation and training.
- As a member of the joint health and safety committee, plan and organize monthly meetings, workplace inspections, incident investigations, take minutes, schedule testing, prepare reports and conduct fire drills etc.
- Manage PLEX health and safety portal, create reports and track performance.
- Responsible for administration of attendance and absence management programs, (LTD/STD/WSIB), disability case management and return to work programs.
- Coordinate or deliver in-house and external training programs related to safety, leadership and other policies and procedures.
- Participate in employee and labor relations activities and initiatives, including corrective action.
- Assist with implementing policies and procedures (employee handbook, attendance policy, legislative compliance).
- Ensure employee performance and training records are always up to date and audit ready.
- Participate in and lead projects as required.
- Assist with global Human Resources activities, including US, Germany, and China operations.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining physical and electronic bulletin boards.
- Advise and coach leaders and employees throughout the organization.
- Complete monthly and ad hoc reports.
- Backup to the Global Director of Human Resources
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, or in the process of achieving.
- 3 years’ generalist experience in a manufacturing, unionized environment preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of employment law and practice as it relates to the Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards, and relevant Human Rights legislation.
- Hands on experience with HRIS, experience with Dayforce or UKG is a plus.
- High level of adaptability and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess a high level of confidentiality, along with good judgement and ability to make decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite Products.
