Canucks Autism Network (CAN) is a charitable organization dedicated to providing programs for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families, while promoting acceptance and inclusion through community engagement and training initiatives across BC. Our vision is for every individual on the autism spectrum to be understood, accepted, and supported in all community spaces.
**Position Purpose**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Event Coordination _
- Supports community partners to plan community engagement events, like Sensory Friendly Spaces, Autism Friendly Events, and Training & Try Its.
- Creates schedules for staff and volunteers needed for each event
- Creates sign up forms for CAN members and distributes information about the event
- Communicates with community partners about event details and updates
- Prepares event equipment and supplies
- On occasion, attends events as an event lead
- Evaluates events through member/staff feedback
- Content and Resource Development_
- Consults with partners and develops customized resources, such as Activity Storybooks, videos, brochures and messaging, that increase the ability of communities to better understand, accept and support individuals on the autism spectrum
- Involves individuals with lived experience in resource development and delivery
- Gathers feedback from community stakeholders to assist in evaluation and ensure the ongoing evolution of training resources.
***_Training Coordination_
- Connects prospective training clients with customized training solutions on occasion, as required
- Liaises and forms meaningful relationships with community training partners
- Communicates the value of training to prospective clients
- Assesses the training needs of prospective clients and recommends training solutions
- Coordinates training workshops, including in-person and virtual presentations
- Coordinates Learning Facilitators for training events related to community engagement partnerships
- Communicates with Learning Facilitator team about upcoming opportunities
- Confirms Learning Facilitators for each training workshop
- Ensures that Learning Facilitators have necessary materials for each presentation (e.g., slides, prizes, handouts, etc.)
- Delivers training workshops on behalf of CAN as required
- Supervision_
- Creates and oversees a team of community engagement staff
- Attends events to mentor and give feedback to community engagement staff
- Trains community engagement staff
***_Administration_
- Creates and manages training agreements
- Customize training agreements for partnered projects
- Ensure that agreements are signed and on file prior to engaging in partnered projects
- Creates and manages invoices
- Ensures invoices are sent to partners
- Coordinate in-kind exchanges with partners when possible
- Additional Tasks_
- Supports with additional CAN events
- This position includes some evening and weekend work
**Education and Experience**
- Post-secondary education and/or experience related to autism and positive behaviour support is a strong asset
- Developing curriculum or resources is an asset
- Experience facilitating or coordinating workshops is an asset
- Experience with Canucks Autism Network’s training team is an asset
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Passionate about inclusion and accessibility
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent oral & written communication skills
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Publisher, Excel, Powerpoint
- Deadline-oriented and reliable
- Ability to work cooperatively with wide range of personalities, including staff and volunteers.
- Exceptional work ethic and strong integrity
