Reporting to the Director, Learner Support Services, the Learner Wellness Coordinator will develop, support and enhance NOSM University initiatives that contribute to a healthy learning environment for all NOSM University Learners.

This position performs complex administrative duties which support the health and wellness of all NOSM U learners through the Office of Learner Support Services. The Learner Wellness Coordinator assists the LSS Office in health and wellness coordination, planning, information management, communication, and project development; and supports the overall LSS mandate in various cross-program initiatives including the development of the virtual health and wellness hub resources.

This position acts as a primary contact and liaison for NOSM U learners, administration, faculty, and community partners who are involved with learner health and wellness. It also acts as a conduit for information flowing to, from, and within the virtual health and wellness hub which aims to provide learners and residents with access to services and programming throughout NOSM U’s distributed learning environment. As the first point of contact for the virtual health and wellness hub, the Learner Wellness Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the virtual health and wellness hub, collects relevant information in a respectful and confidential manner, and triages and redirects learner concerns to the appropriate supports.

The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, promoting, and supporting programs, especially those related to wellness and mental health promotion across NOSM University for all NOSM University Learners. The Coordinator collaborates with various stakeholders, including learners, faculty, administrative staff, and external partners, to create a positive and supportive learning environment.

This position is covered by the Terms and Conditions of the OPSEU Unit 677 Collective Agreement (Unit 2). A copy is available on the NOSM University website.

**Responsibilities**:
Tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Design, implement, and assess university-wide wellness programs that address the physical, mental and emotional well-being health needs of all learners.
- Collaborate with faculty and other staff and stakeholders to support ongoing well-being initiatives for all learners.
- Organize and facilitate events, workshops, and seminars to foster a sense of community and promote wellness.
- Working with Communications and External Relations, develops communication strategies, including social media, web-based and paper-based NOSM U’s framework of policy, protocols, programs, education and reporting practices to promote wellness, resiliency, and inclusiveness across NOSM University.
- Schedule and organize events for the university, specific units and portfolios to raise awareness about wellness, psychological health and safety.
- Collaborate with external organizations to expand available wellness resources enhancing current resources available.
- Develop and distribute informational materials to raise awareness about mental health and overall well-being.
- Under the direction of the Director, Learner Support Services collect and analyze data related to learner wellness, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Under the direction of the Director, Learner Support Services prepare reports on the effectiveness of current wellness programs and make recommendations for enhancements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- A University degree in a related discipline (psychology, social work, etc.) from a recognized university with Canadian accreditation or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- A minimum of three (3) years of related experience in learner services.
- Experience in wellness programming, mental health promotion and medical education is an asset.
- Knowledge of Mental Health Issues affecting University Learners and familiarity with available resources.
- Knowledge of legislation associated with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
- Familiarity with the National Voluntary Standard for Psychological Health and Safety
- Knowledge of office best practices and procedures
- Knowledge of University administration policies and procedures are an asset
- Ability to analyze and solve problems typically associated with responsibilities
- Ability to exercise initiative and judgment and make decisions within the positions’ scope of authority
- Ability to create and implement communication and promotion strategies that inform, educate and train staff, faculty, learners and residents
- Ability to produce high-quality, accurate results while meeting tight deadlines in a dynamic, high-volume environment
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
