As a Network Technician for the Technology Department, you will contribute to the School’s success by supporting the strategic objectives of providing an exceptional experience adapted to the latest trends to our community enabled through technology. You will be responsible for proactively implementing and supporting BSS security infrastructure, related processes, as well as ensuring best practices and related policies and communications are provided. This role will, as part of a team, contribute to the technology vision with a specific focus on network security infrastructure.

**Specific Accountabilities**
- Coordinates, implements, maintains and documents preventative maintenance routines to ensure network performance standards are met.
- Coordinates and implements installation, configuration, activation, servicing and support of network devices such as switches, routers, WAPs, firewalls, network ports, paging and telecommunication system (PBS) and UPS systems
- Collaborates on and coordinates network equipment refresh plans.
- Performs network firmware and operating system(s) setup, upgrades and any troubleshooting required.
- Provides assistance with network administration services of client, cloud and on premise server-based systems such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Azure, VMware, Hyper-V, telecommunication, domain server, print server
- Adds/removes/configures users in Active Directory and ensures security requirements are met
- Adds/removes/configures telecommunication devices
- Coordinates and maintains lease tracking and planning.
- Ensures reliable backups and archiving of data is completed as required.
- Works with 3rd party contractors and support vendors to troubleshoot and escalate issues
- Provides escalated technical support and analysis to the user environment, as required
- Develops and maintains system documentation and procedures, including inventory agreements, purchase orders
- Assesses security requirements, best practices and related policies. Provides recommendations and implements appropriate and approved security levels.
- Assists in developing training programs for BSS users in relation to network usage
- As part of the Technology department, provides input into the schools technology vision
- Embeds diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging into all processes
- Some work may be required outside of regular business hours
**Skills, Experience and Attributes**
- A related university degree or diploma and experience in networking
- Technical proficiency/knowledge of LAN/WAN technology and associated software/hardware such as firewalls, routers, switches etc.
- Microsoft and Apple Certified System Administrator certification is an asset
- Demonstrated Windows and Mac OS X Client/Server Administration and Active Directory integration experience required
- OS Virtualization experience required
- Windows, SQL, IIS and Linux Server experience is required
- Firewall/VPN experience a strong asset
- Ability to work out of regular hours should emergency network maintenance be required
- Network management, Anti-Virus, Spam and filtering systems, and/or other related network management systems experience a strong asset
- Configuring and supporting hardware - Mac's, PC's, laptops, servers a strong asset
- Desktop operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and embedded systems an asset
- Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP experience an asset
- Working knowledge of Network design, configuration and support.
- Technical knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and other relevant protocols.
- Technical proficiency and experience in server hardware and tape library systems.
- Technical proficiency in administering Google Workspace
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft clients, MS Office, networked anti virus software and network backup software.
