**Position Overview**:
Reporting to Pharmacy Managers, the Charge Pharmacy Technician will oversee the safe and effective use of automation equipment, technology and systems supporting the medication use process at SHN. This individual will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and support of all pharmacy equipment. In addition, the Charge Pharmacy Technician will support pharmacy super users and end users while collaborating with nursing and other health care professionals using automation. This individual will be a change leader to identify and lead the implementation of new processes/workflows to ensure our compliance with standards. The role will assist with special projects and other departmental initiatives as defined by the management team.

**Responsibilities**:
- Lead and support system changes to improve medication safety
- Ability to be an automation resource for Automated Dispensing Cabinets, Robotics, Packaging equipment, cold seal packaging and other systems for the pharmacy team
- Participates in the development, review and revision of current policies and procedures to meet legislative, regulatory, occupational health and safety, ISMP and college standards
- Ensures personnel are trained and able to fully comply with all Standards/Policies and Procedures
- Leads the implementation of change initiatives related to changes in equipment and automation
- Work with Managers to enhance and improve medication system improvements
- Travel between sites will be required
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain a professional demeanor
- Support new staff with the onboarding process
- Attend Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician meetings at 3 hospitals to provide regular updates
- Maintains competencies to be able to work as a Pharmacy Technician at all sites
- Other duties of a Pharmacy Technician as required
**Additional responsibilities will include**:
- Inventory Management
- CIS (EPIC) Pharmacy PO, Invoice Reconciliation
- Pharmacy Procurement Responsibilities
- Optimization and Consolidation of Purchasing/Inventory Responsibilities
**Requirements**:
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with hospital automation systems (preferred 5 years’ experience)
- Ability to handle a variety of complex tasks and issues promptly and efficiently while maintaining accuracy & meeting conflicting deadlines
- A highly motivated individual that is able to work independently as well as collaborate with the inter-professional team
- Meditech/Epic computer experience and comprehensive understanding of Automated Dispensing Cabinets, Carousel, Robotic technology concepts
- Computer skills related to Microsoft Office including Word and Excel are preferred,
- Previous administrative and/or project experience preferred
- Well organized with strong time management skills and ability to prioritize workload
- Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving, organizational and decision making skills
- A positive/proactive attitude, energetic, highly motivated self-starter
- Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
- Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
- Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
