Due to continued growth, Brandt is currently seeking a Manager of Accounting for our Properties and Developments divisions. The Manager of Accounting shall be responsible for assisting the Divisional Controller with the management of overall financial operations within the Properties and Developments divisions and will work collaboratively to provide accurate financial information for the Operations, including preparing financial reporting, financial analysis, account reconciliations, and budgeting and forecasting assistance. This role will direct and manage the day-to-day accounting functions and produce monthly financial results for the divisional operations. It will report and provide analysis on monthly results to the Divisional Controller and Director of Financial Reporting and Control, manage the monthly and annual financial reporting and budgeting processes; and various projects within the Finance Department.
The Manager of Accounting may also assist in maintaining the company's accounting systems and implement changes as required by the Divisional Controller.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of divisional & departmental monthly/annual financial statements while striving to ensure their accuracy and completion on a timely basis.
- Manage the day-to-day accounting functions including the entry of journal entries, account analysis & reconciliations and statutory reporting.
- Work with the Divisional Controller and other internal stakeholders to continually monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established regulatory bodies as well as company policies & procedures.
- Supervise and evaluate accounting staff, ensuring that all personnel are adequately trained and have up-to-date job descriptions. Assist in the recruitment process of accounting staff.
- Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process as requested.
- Assist with the coordination and preparation of documentation required for the annual external audit.
- Assist with the coordination of adhoc customer, vendor and regulatory audits.
- Provide insight into various accounting requirements including CRA requirements.
- Provide advice and guidance on accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting.
- Assist the Divisional Controller in setting the priorities within accounting group.
- Provide financial reporting support to various internal and external stakeholders (Insurance, Stats Can, etc.).
- Generate reports of performance against budgets.
- Specific projects and other related duties as required.
**Required Skills**:
- University degree in Business/Accounting, with advanced degree or professional accounting designation (such as CPA) preferred.
- Proven leadership skills are essential
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
- Able to work well under pressure, manage priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
- Attention to detail, proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, specifically MS Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of ERP computer systems an asset.
