As the sun rises over Mt Cheam, you venture over to the greenhouse. **What we need from you**

**Position Summary**

The Research and Development (R&D) Team plays a critical role in implementing continuous improvement at Qualitree. The R&D Assistant contributes to the strength of the R&D Team by implementing and evaluating trials under direction of the R&D Lead. This role will also work closely with the Growing Department at Qualitree. Research is conducted pertaining to crop types and varieties, production cycles, as well as trialing other horticultural inputs and products. The R&D Assistant compiles and reports information back to the R&D Lead and Growing Team as required.

This position reports directly to the R&D Lead. The R&D Assistant works in an open office environment with the Grower Services Team and R&D Lead, and on occasion alongside the Section Growers. After learning the tasks of the position as well as becoming knowledgeable as to how the company operates, it is expected that the R&D Assistant will be able to work independently with autonomy.

During the main growing season (March-October) this person may be required to work irregular hours depending on the weather and operational requirements. Being able to walk for periods of several hours at a time and working outside in the elements (especially in the heat of the summer) is essential for this position. This is a permanent full-time position.

**Your responsibilities will include**
- Data collection & record keeping for all Variety Trials and other general R&D trials as required
- Data collection includes recording observations, taking measurements, photographs, etc (in the greenhouse/field)
- Record keeping includes noting observations, uploading photos and posting updates on Cases in Salesforce (in the office)
- Administrative tasks such as updating spreadsheets, taking meeting minutes, etc as delegated
- Participate as a member in the Research & Development (R&D) committee
- Work with the R&D Lead and R&D Committee to contribute to the planning and conclusion of trials
- Assist with evaluation of trial data
- Assist with creating reports & presentations of trial results to share across the company
