SSi designs, builds, and operates telecommunications networks in Canada’s North. SSi’s mission is to provide high quality, high capacity and affordable broadband connectivity to remote or isolated First Nations communities.
Being the North’s premier broadband and mobile wireless technology company, SSi has been providing Internet service to over 50 remote and underserved communities across the NWT and Nunavut since 2005. Continuing its expansion, SSi is currently deploying and delivering mobile wireless broadband services across the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Québec.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
At SSi you will be part of a group of passionate people who excel at solving complex, real-world problems. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Receptionist is the primary point of contact for visitors and guests, and accountable for all tasks related to the maintenance of the office.
The general duties include:
- Welcome customers, patrons, or visitors by greeting them in person or by telephone, determine the nature and purpose of the visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.
- Answer telephones to screen or forward calls, provide information, and take messages.
- Maintain and distribute the staff telephone directory.
- Schedule appointments and maintain and update appointment calendars.
- Collect, sort, distribute, or prepare mail, messages, or courier deliveries.
- Process and prepare memos, correspondence, or other documents.
- Perform filing and data entry as needed.
- Take meeting minutes in Kanata Health & Safety Committee to keep track of safety problems and to state what recommendations have been made.
- Maintain company vehicle logbook and office key fobs.
- Keep conference rooms, front office desk, kitchen, and clubhouse clean.
- Water and care for interior and exterior plants to achieve a functional and aesthetically-pleasing
space.
- Order food for events when needed.
- Purchase and maintain groceries.
- Maintain and order office supplies.
- Schedule building maintenance appointments and other operational activities.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
- Knowledge of managing files and records.
- Knowledge of administrative and office software systems, such as Google (Docs, Sheets,
Calendar, Meet, Gmail), and Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive).
- Experience handling multiple calls using phone system.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey information effectively and tailor the message to different audiences.
- Time management and organization skills to successfully handle competing priorities.
- Customer orientation to actively look for customer needs (current and future) and satisfying
those needs.
- Valid driver’s license
- Availability to occasionally work after regular hours.
