Sales Manager

For over 76 years, Nelson Lumber proudly served Alberta, focused on supplying quality products to the construction market.

The Edmonton Sales Manager role is a strategic sales leadership position, responsible for driving revenue growth, developing and implementing sales strategies, managing customer relations and experience while overseeing the sales process from lead generation to post order feedback. This position will report to the VP of Sales and Business Development and will be based in our Edmonton office.

Core Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans that align to company vision and growth plans to meet revenue goals and expand market share, which include gain of share with existing customers and conversion of competitor accounts.
- Work with VP of Sales on annual sales budgets and monthly sales forecasts.
- Develop and effectively manage sales KPI’s and report metrics of the sales team to organization.
- Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Manage relationships with key partners including home builders, general contractors, and suppliers.
- Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify new business development opportunities, including new products and vendors.
- Coach and mentor sales team fostering personal and professional development.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training and retention of sales team members.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure our customers receive quality project designs, competitive pricing and timely and successful delivery of materials.
- Ensure that sales activity is accurately captured in Nelson sales tools.
- Attend industry events to promote products and network.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in building materials sales, preferably through the LBM (Lumber and Building Materials) channel.
- 5+ years of sales leadership experience.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to interact effectively with people of all backgrounds and roles.
- Self-motivated, organized, detailed oriented and results-driven
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency in CRM software to track and report sales performance.
- Industry knowledge of construction materials, trends, and regulations.
- Ability to motivate and lead a team, while fostering a positive work environment.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs.

Salary
- Base salary $125,000-$150,000/year
- Annual incentive program based on achievement of sales KPI’s.
