Miller Waste Systems Inc. has been in operation since 1961. Miller is a leader in waste management and diversion, providing governments and industries with a wide range of services in the provinces of Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Manitoba. Miller has over 50 years of experience in the waste management sector and currently operates out of more than 30 locations. We are looking for a highly capable Utility Person to be located out of our Burlington location in Ontario.
Miller Waste Systems is looking for a Utility Person with 6+ months of general labour experience and with 6+ months of waste industry experience. A collaborative but strong nature is essential, and the applicant’s background in parts and maintenance and the transportation industry will allow them to succeed and grow within Miller Waste.
**Responsibilities**
In the position of Utility Person your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with the occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Ensure that the shop and surrounding grounds are clean and organized at all times.
- Ensure that all equipment, vehicles and work areas are in compliance with all safety policies and regulations at all times
- Ensure that all work is performed safely, cost-effectively and in a timely manner
- Liaise with Shop Team, Operations Supervisors and Drivers in a professional and team-oriented manner
- Additional projects and duties as assigned
**Requirements**:
The successful applicant will be comfortable with prioritization, planning, coordination, and organization, with an ability to respond and adapt in changing high-pressure environments. This individual will be able to assess problem situations, recognize issues, and use judgment.

- Must possess a valid G license in good standing.
- Mechanically inclined and basic knowledge of hand tools, with preference given to those with related experience.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and grow with experience.
- Computer knowledge and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- You must also be able to work with mínimal supervision and be an active and effective team player.
Flexibility is also required as this position occasionally requires travel, early starts, late finishes and, on rare occasions, weekend work.
