Hourly Range
Effective July 1, 2025, the hourly rate is $33.16. For the first six months, the hourly rate is $31.50 (95% of the job rate).

Location
Position Overview
Reporting to the Supervisor, Parks Technical Services, the Maintenance Person will perform maintenance on assets located in parks and within the road allowance to keep them safe, clean and in a tidy condition. This position will have a focus on playground inspection and maintenance.
Responsibilities
The Maintenance Person is responsible to:
- Perform playground inspections and maintenance.- Construct, repair, modify and install structures, furnishings and fencing.- Install, repair, and maintain irrigation systems.- Maintain and repair park facilities and amenities.- Utilize welding techniques to fabricate and repair metal structures and equipment.- Perform masonry installation and repair using precast and natural stone, specialized tools, and techniques.- Remove and/or flag hazardous conditions to employees or the public, or that interfere with the safe operation of vehicles, equipment, and park programs.- maintain daily written records and report issues to supervisor.- Perform daily circle checks and report defects.- Perform winter control duties.
Requirements
You have a high school diploma and experience in parks maintenance. Playground Inspector certification is preferred.
You are comfortable with physical work and have experience operating a variety of hand and power tools in a safe manner. You also have good judgment, decision making and customer service skills.
A valid Class G driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract (no more than three (3) driving related convictions and an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire) is required. A valid DZ license is preferred. If you don’t have a valid DZ driver’s license, you must be able to obtain this within 6 months of your start date.
