Sales & Events Manager
August Jack Motel and Squamish Plaza is seeking a Sales & Events Manager (SEM) to play a pivotal role in our success by providing superior customer service and ensuring the profitability of group events. Collaborating closely with the Facility and Operations Manager and the sales team, the SEM will develop and implement marketing and social event programs to drive business growth. This role is essential for revenue generation through prospecting new contract business in target markets and promoting our establishments proactively and professionally.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for events and F&B rentals.
- Devise and execute sales and marketing initiatives.
- Identify and engage with industry events and outreach to key markets.
- Network with local and regional organizations through outreach, cold calls, correspondence, meetings, and presentations to attract business.
- Promptly and professionally respond to RFPs, maximizing revenue by optimizing available space.
- Conduct facility tours, negotiate contracts with potential clients, and prepare quotes, proposals, and contracts tailored to clients' needs and available space.
- Maintain the CRM database, track Group Sales leads, inquiries, lost business, and sales revenue, and provide regular status reports to the sales team.
- Lead weekly sales meetings.
- Audit and update social media channels, the website, CRM, and other digital marketing and communication tools.
- Collaborate with the GM to establish and meet individual and group goals for event execution and exceeding client expectations.
- Recruit, train, coach, and mentor the sales and events staff to cultivate a motivated team.
- Actively participate in community and professional organizations, representing and promoting Squamish Plaza and August Jack Motel.
**Event Management Responsibilities**:
- Plan, organize, and execute events from start to finish, ensuring a seamless and memorable guest experience.
- Coordinate with clients to understand event objectives and requirements.
- Select and book venues, vendors, and suppliers.
- Manage event budgets and ensure expenses stay within budgetary constraints.
- Create event timelines and schedules, overseeing their implementation.
- Handle logistics such as transportation, accommodations, and equipment rentals.
- Oversee event setup, including decor, seating arrangements, audiovisual equipment, etc.
- Manage event staff and volunteers, assigning tasks and ensuring smooth operations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients and guests throughout events.
- Address any issues or emergencies that may arise during events.
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience as an Event Manager or similar role in the hospitality industry.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills for handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on guest satisfaction.
- Ability to effectively market events and communicate with clients, vendors, and suppliers.
- Experience in budgeting and financial management for events.
- Knowledge of hotel industry practices and procedures.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable contracts with vendors and suppliers.
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 - 32 per week
