**Company**
**Job Purpose & Summary**
Reporting to the Branch and Assistant Managers, the Member Service Representative (MSR) of HMECU will be responsible for providing a full range of services and product knowledge to the members of the Credit Union. The MSR will be required to provide exceptional service to the members and always striving to improve member relations with the Credit Union.
HMECU’s mission is to provide the best care of our members’ financial needs. MSRs play a critical role in achieving the goal of the organization by being the front-line staff and building strong and long-lasting member relations.
**Required Experience**
- 1 year of cash-handling experience in a retail environment.
- At least 1 year of equivalent work experience in a financial services sales’ environment with a proven track record in sales preferred.
- Superior customer service skills, including dealing with difficult member situations.
- Prior banking/credit union experience preferred.
- Must be bondable.
**Job Duties and Responsibilities**
Member Service
- Responsible for closing accounts
- Receives and processes member’s bill payments
- Supports members in setting up Telephone and Internet services
- Responsible for distribution of statements to members
- Ensures that all payroll deduction and splits are properly completed, sent to the right person and filed
- Accurately completing personalized cheque orders and directing the orders to the appropriate person
Accountability
- Responsible for having a working knowledge of all job related policies, procedures, guidelines and legislation. This includes but not limited to Money Laundering and Privacy policies and procedures. This can be accomplished by reviewing literature provided by Managers or Human Resources and by attending meetings, regularly.
- Ensures that product and service knowledge is up-to-date
- Ensures that all processing of member’s transactions are done correctly. This includes but not limited to RRSP and term deposits
- Ensure that all outgoing cheques and cash drawer are balanced
- Responsible for daily filing, such as cheques, loans and RRSPs and GICs paperwork etc.
- Maintaining member’s files and ensuring that all paperwork is filed correctly
Service Orientation
- Responsible for selling personal money orders, travellers cheques and insurance to our members.
- Ensures that product and service knowledge is up-to-date.
- Focuses on cross-selling opportunities of the Credit Union’s services and products. Solicits new business from members by addressing specific financial needs of our members.
Communication
- Consults with members to provide them exceptional service and the best care of their financial needs.
- Communicates information with clarity to other employees, managers and members.
Problem Solving
- Informs a manager, when appropriate, of any potential/known issues regarding any work-related policies, procedures, guidelines or regulations.
Team Work
- Offers support, when needed to other employees.
- Clearing duties as needed.
- Other Duties as may be assigned._
