**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Golf, the Assistant Superintendent at Deerhurst Resort aids in all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomic practices, ensuring a high-quality playing surface and an aesthetically pleasing environment. This role involves planning and executing practices in alignment with the Freed Hotels & Resorts golf maintenance programs.
- **Professional Experience**: Minimum of five years experience of golf course maintenance operations in a leadership capacity**Technical Experience**: Knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices; a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices and methods; and an understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.**Education**: Certificate or diploma in turfgrass management or relevant field. Knowledge of current provincial laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including employment, safety, and environmental standards, laws, and regulations).**Leadership**: A dynamic, results-oriented leader with an ability to build and motivate a high-performing team and effectively engage with the management and leadership team**Communication and Collaboration**: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to build strong partnerships within the resort and with guests.**Guest Focus**: An understanding of resort culture and a commitment to fostering exceptional guest experiences.**Professional Development**: A passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.**Qualifications**:
- Certificate or diploma in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, or a related field (preferred).- 3-5 years of experience in golf course maintenance or a related role.- Strong knowledge of turfgrass management practices, including disease and pest management.- Proficiency with irrigation systems and equipment.- Leadership and team management skills.- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.- Commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
