LIVELab’s mission is to understand human interaction and group dynamics in realistic settings using brain, body, behavioural and computational measures, and music performance. LIVELab infrastructure includes theatre technology, musical instruments, and multi-person physiological, brain, and behavioural measurement tools. LIVELab research is undertaken by core researchers from McMaster, external researchers from around the world, performing artists, community partners, and industry. LIVELab has an extensive public outreach presence, including tours and a research concert series. (see livelab.mcmaster.ca). **Job Summary**: The Facility Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the LIVELab Core Research Facility to ensure that the research, artistic performance, and outreach excellence mandates of the facility can be realized. This work will involve communicating and coordinating with the technical staff, researchers, students, and volunteers, as well as liaising with performing artists, arts organizations, the public, and donors. The Facility Manager will also be responsible for event organization and project management, as well as billing, financial transactions, financial reports, and assisting with financial planning. The Facility Manager will report to the Director, McMaster Institute for Music and the Mind (MIMM); dotted line reporting to Associate Dean, Research & External Relations. Applications will be reviewed beginning March 12, 2025 and continue until the position is filled. **Accountabilities**: **General Management and Planning** - Manage the daily operation of the facility, including purchasing of equipment and supplies, access cards, calibration of equipment, and preparation of the concert hall for events. - Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure the provision of services to the facility users in collaboration with the facility’s Director and Technical Director. - Develop and implement procedures to ensure relevant University safety standards are met. Ensure that users have completed appropriate safety training. - Work with other staff to ensure ethics are in place and carried out. - In collaboration with the Director and Technical Director, provide professional guidance and consultation to internal and external users. - Manage the booking systems for studies, events, concerts, rentals, equipment repairs, etc. - Oversee the administration of the LiveLab website, ticketing website, event pages, and post - event surveys. - Book undergraduate work study students and volunteers as needed for research studies and events - Remain up to date with recent developments and advancements in the field. - Interact with artists and maintain lists of potential and interested performers; post calls for research projects as required, for the purpose of generating revenue to support the operation of the facility. - Set up contracts and service agreements. - Participate in strategic planning of facility’s goals and vision. **Financial** - Acquire, analyze and communicate data to help inform financial planning, contribute to report writing, organizing financial and other information, providing summaries and assessments of facility sustainability (eg. MIMM, RCI Report, Core Platforms Report). - Manage billing and financial transactions in Mosaic and MacBill, and financial programs internal to LIVELab - Prepare project costing for research studies and events - In collaboration with the Director, assist with planning and managing oversight of the operating budget for the facility **Staff Management** - Manage and train Staff and volunteers within the facility. - Allocate and schedule workloads and responsibilities. - Ensure efficient and safe work practices. - In coordination with the Director and Technical Director, develop
