Our team of approximately 400 does this essential work both on our campus, which includes 55 buildings on 300 acres, also on our multiple off-site locations, which include 11 buildings.

**About the position**:
The **Facilities Information Systems Manager** is a key member of the management team reporting to the Director of Finance and to the Director, Campus Infrastructure Systems. The IS Manager oversees all aspects of the information technology and systems within Facilities Services, with a large operations portfolio and is tasked with the care and maintenance of McMaster’s campus within facilities. Overseeing all processes that are relevant to the smooth operation of the university facilities’ buildings and grounds. As a member of the broader McMaster campus, and with a direct connection to University Technology Services (UTS) and the Office of the AVP and CTO, the IS Manager will undertake all information technology activities with a focus on partnerships and collaboration in conjunction with University Technology Services and other key campuses IT areas.

The IT Manager will develop, in partnership with the AVP Facility Services & Chief Facilities Officer and the Director of Finance facilitate an IT Strategy within the department and work alongside UTS. They will then operationalize this plan and implement and act as the main contact to each parties external to the department and representing Facility Services at committees and working groups. And build a cohesive Facility Services I.T. community.

**Key Accountabilities**:
**_ Strategic Planning_**
- Develops a strategic IT plan that supports the core mission of the department, supporting the information systems needs of Facility Services.
- Provides IT support and advice to department leadership
- Performs a gap analysis to identify specific IT needs within the departments and then suggest the most effective manner to meet these needs within the context of the institution
- Oversees resource deployment
- Performs and creates IT data analytics
- Ensures alignment with the central IT strategic plan
- Working with the Manager, Communications, create an I.T. communication plan
- Aligns technology requirements to the Facility Services Strategic plan
- Implementing, evaluating and adjusting plans and schedules to reach goals, within the constraints of ensuring effective use of resources.
- Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery: Developing or providing information for the negotiation, execution and analysis of the terms and conditions in contracts and ensuring compliance for the purpose of critical services and products and/or to permit the organization to recover its facility, data and assets.

**_Project and Contract Management _**
- Oversees department - wide I.T. projects ensuring successful outcome of project objectives and ensures integration with central campus systems
- Negotiate I.T. department wide contracts to ensure compliance, acceptable price, terms and warranty. Provide expertise to units within the department on I.T. contracts
- Provides I.T/technical support in potential commercialization ventures
- Increase technical integration into the department where appropriate and tenable

**_ System Security _**
