**Job Summary**:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Transportation Integrated Services, the Manager, Fleet Services is responsible for the overall management of all Regional fleet vehicles/equipment, fleet shops, inventory, driver trainer programs and fleet operations. Manages all activities relating to the fleet asset management program, from procurement to decommissioning of vehicles/equipment in the fleet in accordance with legislative requirements and Regional policies and procedures.

**Education**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration or other related discipline.
- Certificate of Trades Qualification as a Truck and Coach Technician (310T) and Automotive Service Technician (310S) is considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education, experience and qualifications may be considered.

**Knowledge**:

- 10 years of progressive experience in the management of a municipal or diverse fleet.
- Experience leading in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in the repair of vehicles, specialized equipment and small engines, to include procedures for diagnosing malfunctions and performing technical repairs.
- Thorough knowledge of quality control and provincial inspection requirements & documentation.
- Demonstrated financial management knowledge and experience in developing, implementing and monitoring operational and capital budgets.
- Demonstrated experience (5-10 years) in preparing and issuing requests for proposals, quotations, prequalification and tenders for the procurement of supplies (including preparing specifications) and retention of consultant and contractor services.
- A demonstrated record of strong leadership and guidance, team advocacy, staff delegation, empowerment, staff development and results orientation.
- Knowledge of project development, scheduling, monitoring, and control systems.
- Detailed working knowledge of applicable legislation including: the Highway Traffic Act and Regulations, Commercial Vehicle Operating Registration Regulations, Dangerous Goods Transportation Act, Truck and Bus National Safety Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, employment legislation, Technical Standards and Safety Act and Environmental Protection Act.
- Advanced knowledge, experience and skills in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Working knowledge of and competency in computerized maintenance management systems (e.g. AssetWorks M5 and Cityworks AMS).
- Working knowledge of and competency in fuel management.
- Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) designation considered an asset.

**Responsibilities**:
**_ Develop, manage, and administer _all Regional fleet services including vehicles/equipment procurement and disposal, maintenance and repairs, fleet shops (3), driver trainer programs and inventory management._ (40% of time)_**:

- Manage the fleet operations, maintenance and repair, to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Lead a team of fleet experts to identify, analyze, study and implement efficiencies, best practices and emerging technologies to determine best service delivery options. Undertakes initiatives to improve service delivery and reduce costs.
- Develop and implement detailed work plans, policies and procedures regarding program specific requirements.
- Review long-term vehicle/equipment requirements with stakeholders, ensuring financial resources are budgeted.
