**JOB SUMMARY**:
Perform various duties associated with the external and internal cleaning of all equipment and vehicles used by Niagara Emergency Medical Services fleet. This includes the detailed cleaning and disinfecting of the vehicle and equipment used in the transportation of patients. Additionally the position will be responsible for supporting the Supply Technician to ensure the vehicle has the required equipment and supplies. At Niagara Emergency Medical Services we do this work with a people care focus using our STAR CARE principals.

**EDUCATION**:

- Grade 12 or equivalent - Required

**KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum six months current related experience in housekeeping/janitorial services
- Previous experience with vehicle detailing and cleaning would be preferred
- Previous experience cleaning in a health care setting would be preferred
- Experience in operating and utilizing commercial/institutional housekeeping equipment and products.
- Basic principles of Infection Prevention and Control

**SKILLS**:

- Must be able to work without direction
- Must have a high attention to detail and able to follow stringent protocols for cleaning and material storage
- Excellent communication and customer service skills

**SPECIAL CONDITIONS**:

- Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted specified license for the class of the vehicle operated
- Must maintain ability to travel in a timely manner to other offices, work locations or sites as authorized by the Corporation for business reasons.
- In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate.
- Up to date immunizations including annual flu vaccine, Hepatitis B, MMR vaccine, varicella, tetanus and pertussis vaccines.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Regularly scheduled cleaning and disinfecting of ambulance and Emergency Response Vehicle interiors and contents, as well as cleaning of exterior ambulance surfaces.
- May be requested to perform unscheduled deep cleaning activities of ambulance vehicles in the event that a highly infectious patient is transported or should the ambulance be significantly soiled.
- Disposal of sharps and medical waste.
- Equipment must be removed from the vehicle prior to cleaning of the interior surfaces. This includes removing the stretcher and floor-mounted tracks, back boards, medic bags, containers for dressings, oxygen cylinders, etc.
- Vacuuming, wet mopping and steaming of vehicle interiors.
- Floors, walls, and ceilings of vehicles free of visible stains, dirt, soil, dust, spills, streaks, and handprints. This includes ledges, light fixtures, and dashboard and steering components in the vehicle cab.
- The interior horizontal and vertical cupboard surfaces free of visible stains, dirt, soil, dust, spills, streaks, and handprints. This will require the removal of cabinet contents and re-stocking.
- Tools used for cleaning cleaned and dried between uses. Mop heads laundered daily and dried prior to re-use.
- Exterior of the vehicle free from visible dirt, mud, stains, and debris.
- Windows, mirrors, and glass elements streak-free and free of visible dust, dirt, mud, stains, and debris.
- Damage observed to the vehicle exterior (i.e., chips, dents, scratches, window chips, torn door seals) must be documented and reported.
- Waste disposed of accordingly, both from the sharps bin and any general waste bins.
- Checklist filed upon completion of the cleaning of the vehicle, detailing the cleaning and disinfecting efforts undertaken and identifying any damaged, missing, or soiled materials that could not be cleaned appropriately.
