**Job Summary**:
The Production Supervisors role is to maintain and improve operating procedures of the company focused primarily on production targets and work safely within federally regulated meat processing facility. The majority of the time on the job will be spent supervising, coaching and mentoring a team of production employees to produce high quality products and reach production targets. This position will work closely with the Plant Manager to maintain optimum production. Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to work in a high stress environment is required.

**Duties**:

- Oversee daily production to control yields and ensure quality standards to avoid waste and reduce customer claims;
- Observe and monitor all mechanical downtime and develop plans in conjunction with maintenance and plant manager to minimize downtime;
- Identify and report safety hazards to the Health & Safety Coordinator to promote a safe work environment;
- Ensure all food safety processes are maintained and enforced;
- Manage a diverse team of individuals and skill sets - identify individuals with the abilities and willingness to cross train or move throughout the production facility;
- Ensure employees are trained on a minimum of three jobs to ensure proper coverage of employee; including illness/injury, vacation time, etc;
- Administer company policies and procedures;
- Counsel employees and deal with employee complaints to minimize labor problems;
- Be the first point of contact with employees when dealing with issues and disputes.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Preferably with at least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position ideally in the meat processing facility.
- Strong communication/training skills.
- Ability to work varied shifts.
- Must have reliable transportation.

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Strong communication skills (both verbal & written)
- Understanding of the slaughter process and factors that affect meat product quality.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Prolonged standing & walking.
- Ability to climb ladders and go up and down steep steps.
- Ability to bend, crouch, and lift product and equipment off the floor.
- Ability to lift up to 20kgs.
- Ability to handle and work in a high stress environment.

**Work Environment**:

- Fast paced environment with continuous interruptions and distractions.
- In production as part of monitoring & coaching processes. Must be able to work in an environment with live animals, the slaughter of those animals, blood, fecal/ingesta, bugs/pests, and extremely bad smells etc.
- Working in extreme temperatures.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
