**JOB SUMMARY**
Reporting to the Manager, Partnerships & Commercialization - who oversees Praxis’ fundraising activities - the Fund Development Officer is responsible for the implementation of the fund development strategies, such as annual giving, major gifts, planned giving programs, foundation grant writing and third-party fundraising activities. The Fund Development Officer will identify potential sources of funding, develop cultivation and solicitation strategies and materials to generate revenue for Praxis’ Clinical Research and PLEX (persons with lived experience of SCI) programs. The role is central to building the framework, strategies and best practices for Praxis’ fund development activities. All strategies and activities will align with the strategic direction of the organization and in accordance with ethical fundraising principles.
**JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Advise and support the development of Praxis’ Fund Development strategic framework and internal processes;
- Support the Fund Development team in the delivery of the major gifts and planned giving program through prospecting and soliciting new major donors, corporate and foundation contributions, and planned giving activities.
- Coordinate and execute annual giving campaigns and associated direct giving campaigns;
- Implement and oversee effective stewardship strategies for all corporate and individual donors;
- Support the implementation and monetization of third-party fundraising activities, including employee giving, fundraising events, and partial proceeds campaigns.
- Cultivate, steward and manage a portfolio of donor, supporter, funder, and external stakeholder relationships through ongoing business communication and effective meeting management;
- Participate in and facilitate meetings: prepare and deliver presentations to Praxis project teams and;
- Collaborate with other Praxis departments (Marketing & Communications, Finance, etc.) to ensure effective internal and external delivery of Praxis fundraising activities;
- Collaborate with other Praxis departments (Commercialization, PLEX and Clinical Research) to ensure delivery of funded activities align with funder and stakeholder expectations;
- Oversight of grant development: writing, budget development and administrative reporting, including documentation tracking, contract maintenance, overseeing approval processes;
- Prepare documentation for reporting evidence to funding partners (foundations and corporate partners) and create summary documentation aligned with funder reporting requirements;
- Understand and support the delivery of fundraising activities in alignment with strategic direction of the organization and in accordance with ethical fundraising principles.
- Perform other duties as required by Praxis.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience working in fundraising programs, including new donor acquisition, major gifts, planned gifts, annual giving campaigns, corporate and foundation giving, and grant writing.
- Experience coordinating complex projects, events or programs.
- Experience overseeing a portfolio of diverse stakeholders.
**KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/BEHAVIOURS**
Knowledge
- Clear understanding of project management: planning, coordination, delivery and reporting.
- Understanding of outreach and relationship management strategies with key stakeholders.
- Familiarity working with relevant technologies: donor research programs, databases and CRM.
